12 Stones

12 Stones were formed in the small New Orleans suburb of Mandeville, LA. The bandmembers were mostly still in their teens when they formed the lineup of vocalist Paul McCoy, bassist Kevin Dorr, guitarist Eric Weaver, and drummer Aaron Gainer. After performing no more than 12 live performances, they took their demo to New York City and performed at an industry showcase. The band ended up signing to Wind-Up Records to record its debut album with producer Jay Baumgardner. The album saw release in 2002, less than two years after the formation of the group. More success came to the band in 2003, when McCoy duetted with Evanescence on "Bring Me to Life," which became a smash hit and was included on the Daredevil soundtrack as well as Evanescence's debut album, Fallen. 12 Stones released their second album, Potter's Field, which featured a heavier, more guitar-driven sound than their debut, in 2004. After taking a break from music to spend time with their families, the bandmembers reconvened to make their third album. Inspired by the effects of Hurricane Katrina on their hometown, 12 Stones recorded Anthem for the Underdog in Memphis, TN with Justin Rimer and Skidd Mills during the better part of 2006, and the album was released in 2007. During the pre-production for their fourth album, Dorr returned to the fold -- he had been gone for five years beginning in 2004 -- and 12 Stones added Mike McManus as their new drummer. Just saying but 12 Stones stands for the story in the Bible when the Israelites crossed the Jordan River during flood season, and God completely stopped the flow of the river so they could cross on completely dry land. God commanded them to get 12 stones from the river bed and put them in a pile next to the river so they could tell their descendants what the all-mighty, one true, awesome God did for them! God is good!

This is my first time listening to this band and I really liked the sound. My favorite 12 stones are in Joshua 4:20 afer the people crossed the jordan Joshua held the river back a while longer to pick up 12 stones to build a monument to GOD in gilgal so noone would forget.

as a sidenote the name 12 stones actually comes from several places in the bible; Joshua 4:20-22 "thsoe 12 stones which they had taken from the Jordan, Joshua set up at Gigal. he said to the sons of Israel, 'when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, "what are these stones?" then you shall inform your children saying "Israel crossed this Jordan on dry ground."

there singer sounds quite a bit like Green Day, I think that if they took there music in that direction that they would do pretty good. I heard there new song and thats what got me thinkin of that, anyway I hope that there new CD is as good as there other stuff.

It really does not matter what 12 stones write music about, faith or whatever they just suck so bad. If you want better music with Faith-based lyrics go buy the first 2 Day Of Fire albums. Both Rock A## and Joshua Brown actually has a good voice, check it out. Josh was awesome before he found christianity and formed D.O.F his old band 'Full Devil Jacket' was unbelievable and in my eyes created one of my all time favorite debut records. If you do not like them try Stavesacre, their pretty good.
