After The Burial

Hailing from the Twin Cities region of Minnesota, progressive metalcore band After the Burial formed in 2004. Originally consisting of guitarists Trent Hafdahl and Justin Lowe, bassist Lerichard Foral, drummer Dan Carle, and vocalist Nick Wellner, After the Burial created a sound that pushed the boundaries of heaviness through the use of extended-scale guitar work and progressive math-metal technical playing. The group self-released its first EP, Forging a Future Self, in 2006, and began touring heavily in support of the album. The following year, Wellner decided to leave the band after coming to the conclusion that the touring life wasn't for him. He was replaced by Grant Luoma, and in 2008 the band signed to Sumerian Records and released its first full-length, Rareform. Personality clashes within the band led to Luoma and After the Burial parting ways later that year, with Anthony Notarmaso joining as Luoma's replacement. In 2009, the group released a re-recorded version of Rareform featuring Notarmaso's vocals and live drums while the band got acclimated to the new singer. After dealing with busy touring schedules and member changes, After the Burial finally settled down to write new material, and in 2010 released their first album of new material in two years, In Dreams. The band kept busy with two more releases in 2013, with a new EP, This Life Is All We Have, as well as their fourth full-length offering, Wolves Within, arriving that year. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi

Rest in peace justin. It's past time we remove the stigma of mental illness. These people need our help not derision and scorn.

Oh and djent isn't a genre. Its a sound effect. Your just listening to “cool" metalcore. Still prefer after the Burial's older sound if anything. More to the roots of metalcore

@killzeeprec i o u s I wouldn't go as far as saying more talent when it took the Meshuggahs drummer longer to get the rhythm down for just one song (Bleed) than it took to record the rest of the album, considering the fact that they've been playing and recording complex music for 20 years by that time. But I still love After the Burial its just two completely different fields.

why do people always say somethings a rip off if it shares few similarities to something else it is stupid
Report as inappropriate
This band made there own genre nothing like mesuggah so much more talent.

When. You're done press f6 and your lovers name will come out on the screen in big. Letters

Messhuggha started djent. There are alot of excellent djent bands out there that are doing things Messhuggha doesn't. Keep an open mind and enjoy the evolution of the awesome subgenre
Report as inappropriate
Rsald dude I completely agree before I knew who was playing I thought it was meshuggah but then I realized it wasn't when they started sounding scene
Report as inappropriate
Complete meshuggah rip off, youre a dumb a** if you dont hear it. Every djent band is s meshuggah rip off, plain and simple
Report as inappropriate
I saw them a few years back open for As I Lay Dying....id say they stole the show, especially with their neon green and pink guitars. From than on out I knew I was in love

Somebody here (ray420360) said that After The Burial was better than Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven. Not only is that bullshit, it's an opinion, and therefore subjective. While you are entitled to such an opinion, you don't even realize the shortcomings of what you've said. Try not to be so ignorant.

This is one of the better bands to come out of the progressive metalcore genre. They made it entirely unique to themselves.

Nine Summers, so f**king lovely.

Had the pleasure of seeing them in tiny places before they blew up. Probably best thing going from MN at the moment.

Yet another incomplete discography. I don't guess it matters though because if they had the newer stuff on here they probably wouldn't play it. Got several bands on my station where Pandora almost never plays stuff off the newer albums and gets hung up playing songs off a single album from the mid 2000s. I guess I should be happy heavy music is even available for listening here, but there has been very little discovery for me.

why is there no In Dreams album?

danesyoutube -but if u listen to anthony vocals live, they sound exactly like they do one the cd, anthony is a super talented screamer, he doesn't hold back a he screams full voice insted of oli sykes from bring me the horizon, i personally thing anthony's screams are fine, it fits with the djent style, an tech style they r going for, their old vocalist was the worst, he could hold a scream at all! i've been follow ing ATB threw their ep to in dreams i know alot about them Trent is a really good

Where the hell is In Dreams? I wanna hear some Your Troubles Will Cease on my Pandora dammit!

The Re-Issue really pisses me off. The drums are better and actually real. and the guitars are just fine, but the new vocalist's voice does not belong or fit on this material at all. He's good on In Dreams, but that re-issue really pisses me off
