This is one of the last pieces I learned when I was still in piano lessons many, many years ago. I don't have it memorized anymore but occasionally I'll pull it out and play it again. It is a good one to play when I'm feeling thoughtful and want something not too technically demanding (I am rusty).
I first heard this in the movie "Corina Corina" with Whoopi Goldberg and Ray Liotta.

Ah, I just figured it out. The song was a big part of Man on Wire, the documentary of Philippe the high-wire artist who spanned the World Trade Centers in the 1970s. Now, I can go to sleep tonight and not chew on this anymore.

Argh. What is the recent movie or documentary in which this song is featured? It is SO familiar...I just can't quite place it at the moment. Someone please help.
The first time I heard it I believe it was the end of "My Dinner with Andre" and I never have forgotten it, especially in the context in which it was used. Wally is on his way home after his dinner with Andre.
Was this song featured in a movie? I feel like I just heard it, and listening to it now, conjures up images of various film scenes.

Absolutely beautiful.

It's hard for me to describe how much I love this piece. It's my favorite work for piano, period. So gentle. Slightly melancholy. Something you can just fall into and let it wrap around you while being allowed to enjoy the finer pleasures of forgetfulness...
