With all due respect to Bronson Graff's comments, I think Andy McKee is only like Hedges in sheer technical artistry. the comparison stops there, because McKee has a lighter, brighter spirit. There's a happiness and lightheartedness to his style as opposed to some very strange, dark spiritual influences in Hedges' work, oftentimes. My opinion.
Here's a repost since the posting software took away all the punctuation made my post unreadable ----It's Michael Hedges reborn. Very impressive. Particularly the song ::::The Friend I Never Met::: It's like Hedges' classic ::::Because It's There:::: Part 2!
She is a mom she is my mom I am 8 she is a good mom. I like her because she takes care of me. Want to know more talk to me.The End P.S so does not look like my mom. now The End.
Andy is such a fine musician..but ALSO, a very down-to-earth person. When I met him in at a concert near San Antonio..in Helotes a while back..it was as if I had known him for years. Sweet disposition!!

Came across "The Friend I Never Met" on the soundtrack to August Rush. Love the sound and feeling he creates. Definitely adding him to my library.

Nice sound. Caught the song "Drifting" on my Jack Johnson channel. I'll definitely check out some more.
@Alan, I agree. listening is one thing but seeing him live was a whole other experience. I have been playing for almost 20 years and watching Andy play live was an experience I will never forget. My jaw was sore from hitting the floor so many times
It's obvious that Michael Hedges was a huge influence on Andy's style. I can also hear a faint influence of heavy metal in some of his songs. His arrangement of Tears for Fears "Everybody wants to rule the world is phenomenal!
Listening to Andy's music is only HALF the experience. You have to see him play - not just the mastery his percussion fingering - but the joy and oneness with what he is doing ... it's awesome to see.
I have my own particular sorrows, loves, delights; and you have yours. But sorrow, gladness, yearning, hope, love, belong to all of us, in all times and in all places. Music is the only means whereby we feel these emotions in their universality . ~H.A. Overstreet
I just heard "Rylynn," and that's what came to my mind. Beautiful music, Mr. McKee. I can feel the emotion flow from your fingers into my heart.
