Reggae singer Anthony B. was born Keith Blair in Clarks Town, Jamaica; after performing with church and school choirs throughout his youth, he made his debut as a DJ with the local sound system Shaggy Hi-Power. Relocating to Portmore in 1988, he befriended fellow aspiring DJs including Determine, Mega Banton, and Ricky General, issuing his debut record The Living Is Hard in 1993. Teaming with producer Richard "Bello" Bell, Anthony B. notched a series of hits including "Repentance Time," "Fire pon Rome," "Rumour," and "Raid di Barn" before releasing his first full-length effort Real Revolutionary in 1996. Universal Struggle followed in 1997, with the single "Nah Vote Again" viewed as a key factor in preserving peace at the national elections later that year. In 1999, Anthony B. returned with Seven Seals. More Love followed two years later. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
This guy has worked hard and writes good music, good writing is his success. In real life he is very far from a real rasta though, he is not very religous and if you follow his music recently he advertises his weaknesses in an attempt to stay in the video light. Capleton in contrast has made the same weakness a strenght by being less explicit and more uplifting to women in the same breath.
Anthony B is the best. His music is the iriest and he puts on the best live shows around. Sizzla and Capleton are the two folks who are on his level but Anthony B has a way more positive personality and vibe.
For those who didn't know, Anthony B has been around for quite a few years. He is a seasoned artist. You have to check out his previous releases as well. This is a brother of substance who knows how to piece together good music every time, word up.
