Alternative rock outfit Autovein began simply enough with some demos that vocalist/guitarist Bryan Roach had recorded in his St. Louis basement. Impressing his manager, he was subsequently introduced to brothers Matt and Jesse Fine, both of Doghouse Records act Celebrity. Celebrity weren't doing too much at the time, so the two began performing with Roach under the name the Adored. Things happened quickly; after only a dozen or so shows, in the fall of 2004 the crew landed a deal with Columbia Records. Work began on their debut record, and they entered the studio in early 2005 to record with producer GGGarth (Rise Against, Chevelle). A name change came in late 2005 -- presumably to avoid confusion with the dancey L.A. post-punks of the same name -- first to For the World before ultimately settling on Autovein in early 2006. With the record finally complete, Autovein's building momentum suddenly hit a bump in the road when they were dropped from Columbia in March following a restructuring of the label. But the bandmembers only looked forward, and mid-year, they came across Denver-based Outlook Music, who wound up signing Autovein that fall. The group's debut, Bullets and Bruises, finally saw the light of day in late March 2007; by then, Autovein consisted of Roach, bassist Zack Alexopulos, guitarist Chris Capaletti, and drummer Ben Miller. As their first single "Save Me" began making waves on modern rock radio, the guys spent spring 2007 opening dates for the Exies and Smile Empty Soul. ~ Corey Apar, Rovi
