AZ

One of the numerous thoughtful gangsta rappers to emerge from New York during the mid-'90s, AZ enjoyed critical success early in his career, particularly with his debut album, Doe or Die (1995), but commercial success largely eluded him over the years. Born in Brooklyn, he initially garnered attention with his guest feature on "Life's a B**ch," one of the standout tracks on Nas' landmark debut album, Illmatic (1994). In the wake of Doe or Die's critical success, AZ collaborated with Nas in the ill-fated supergroup the Firm and released Pieces of a Man (1998), another critical favorite. But for the most part, that was it from AZ for several years as he fell by the wayside, not surfacing in a big way again until a pair of Motown releases, 9 Lives (2001) and Aziatic (2002), that didn't sell any better than his previous efforts. He subsequently took his music underground, periodically releasing albums such as A.W.O.L. (2005). In 2004 the double-disc retrospective Decade 1994-2004 looked back over his career to date, gathering up various highlights. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi

AZ , not all the way sure if you take the time to read every fan letter or email. But, if by chance you ever call across these words. As a fan , I love your style of music . Lol , I like to call it life music . Because , it played a great roll in my life coming up in Camden , New Jersey . Im a '80's baby . So, it was like you described part of my life like you was right there . And , I'm sure every real man , at this point , who has been through the same thing will feel the same way . Thank you
A zilla!!!!!!
For some reason pandora doesn't have AZ's sophomore '98 album (pieces of a man), which is my favorite. AZ, one of the best on the mic.

Hands down, any comments acknowledged , speaks for SOSAs lyrical skill. Just getting into this post stuff, but nice 2 c that era 91-00 still known for best Mcees. That'all I pump in headphones at work, driving..whe r e v e r . . To me best hip hop I've heard in my life. 90s-00s stop it at 2002,03. Everything else u have to sort through now on mixtapes an satellite radio. Much respect to the pioneers tho in 70s an 80s to.
Record sales mean nothin...u sound like a person who is brainwashed by the radio
Seriously? AZ better than NAS? I think the record speaks for itself.

Even haters hate haters so don't be one. just listen and love it like you know you really want to, f**k what your homies think and respect lyrics its a dying artforum in hip hip or should I say rap (that's what the kids call it now a days right?) While i'm on the topic hiphop and rap are different things.....r a p makes girls shake their a** hip hop makes you think/
