Well, they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night And they blew up his house, too. Down on the boardwalk they're ready for a fight Gonna see what them racket boys can do.

The best part of this song is Rick Danko's backing vocals. His voice is so perfect and heartfelt. And while I live the original Bruce version, this one takes the cake.

Bruce's voice is better for this song and his singing has more of a beat and flow
I love to listen to different versions of the same song and without taking anything away from Bruce's original, I find this version to be amazing. Hadn't even heard of the band "The Band" before this song. Awesome rendition.

I like the grit of Springsteen's original version. Nebraska was so dark and personal and tragic. Even the live electric version he rolled out about 2000 was dark and gritty. This version is obviously lighter, makes the subect seem more trivial. Not bad musically, but I prefer Springsteen's original intent.
maybe the main highlight of Jericho, first one I've heard on here from The Album. Nice selection. Country Rock Gamblin' music.

I think you have to look at the Springsteen version in the whole context of the Nebraska album. Kinda one man alone with some cut rate recording equipment just recording his thoughts and pain. It is more intense and personal than this version.

I like this one better than the the Springsteen too. Bruce's doesn't flow like this one, and a lot of the lyrics feel forced.
And it is accurate about the murder of an important Philly Mafia guy. The "rules" say you can't use bombs. This one may have been done with a contract to Bikers?? Definetly one that would engender rivers of blood. A great song, I like this version better than Springsteen' s .

This is a cover of Bruce's original done by Levon Helm - not The Band.
