saying things are overrated is overdone especially when it comes to the beatles. how about offering some unique insights to the music instead of the same old tripe.
Just to clarify (it's only three years later), I probably shouldn't have used the term rip-off. I just find them very similar in theme but different in culture.
This along with Strawberry Fields was the first music video I ever saw long before MTV. I was living in San Pedro at the time, those were so good times
I named my Boston Terrier after this song. She lived for 14 years and this song was the first one I heard after she passed away. I stopped at the store on my way home from the vet and it played over the Muzak of all things.
David Mason played the Piccolo trumpet on this song. Paul McCartney heard one of his performances and knew the sound was right for this song. So, he wrote the notes and they got him to play it.
the beatles have influenced music more than any other 10 bands in history combined. If you have ANY musical background in writing or performing, you know this to be true.
Pleasant Valley Sunday? Not written by the Monkees, they just sang it. Blame Carole King if you think that is a rip off - she wrote it about a town in New Jersey. Came out in 1967
This song just seems to capture the essence of "Beatles" for me. If I had to introduce the Beatles to someone in a handful of their songs, this song would be on the list.
Mixed feelings on this one - it sounds silly. McCartney's ego got out of hand at times, thankfully John Lennon was around to bring him down to Earth !!
But I like the tune ! Luv them Beatles - you have to !!!
The chemistry of The Beatles was what made them great ; they were all so different....
Do not try to figure out Lennon-McCartney arrangements and why they put alternate chord changes out of sync; if one does they won't enjoy the tunes as they are. This is what makes the group one of a kind.
What a great song. Upbeat. Positive. I have always loved this song and the Beatles music. Finger pies in summer. And the fireman rushes in from the pouring rain, very strange. There beneath the blue suburban sky.
A super song. I've loved it from the first time I heard it. I must say though that the sound of the recording was overly bright, with a spectral ballance shy of the lower frequencys. OK, everyone knows about that if they have ears. What they might not know, is why. I'm one of those folks. Anyone know the answer? I'd like to hear about it. Thanks, Tom
