Usually working as a duet act with his sister CeCe or working the background on releases by the Winans (four of his older brothers), BeBe Winans released his first solo album in October 1997. It did very well on the gospel charts, and even made an impact on the secular charts. He followed it with 2000's Love & Freedom. The concert album Live and Up Close appeared in 2002, and then the holiday collection My Christmas Prayer in 2003, the first release for Winans' own Movement Group imprint, an offshoot of Still Waters (itself an offshoot of Hidden Beach Recordings). it was so touching to see AND hear BeBe & CeCe in Whitney's homegoing. For me their participation lent such a heartfelt warmth & sincerity to the service. BeBe's vocal talent is incomparable.

I'm more familiar with the music of Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, and Yolanda Adams,than with that of Smokie Norful, and Dewayne Woods. I'm also interested in Bebe and Cece Winans music. In fact the music of the entire Winans family. Bebe has a dynamic show on BET. He helps promote the musical careers of young gospel singers.
So...all this time, they should've been called CeCe & BeBe instead? BeBe's solo projects just havent met the the commercial success of his former partner. It's no mystery who'll benefit the most when they reunite in 2009. Perhaps, being a part of a duet is the best platform for this great gospel voice to shine, as "Abundant Life", a duet on Friends and Family, is his only Grammy to date.
