Bernard Wright

Keyboardist Bernard Wright seemed like a coming fusion and urban star when he toured with Lenny White at 13 and played with Tom Browne in 1979. He got such strong response that he was signed to GRP in 1981. But the LP 'Nard stalled, though there was good reaction among R&B and fusion fans to the single "Just Chillin' Out." It was followed by Funky Beat for Arista and Mr. Wright for Manhattan/EMI. Wright also co-wrote and sang with La La on "We'll Keep Strivin." He has recorded with Cameo, Bobby Brown, Pieces of a Dream, and Charles Earland, among others. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi

Richard King That Was The Cut That Was Played On Wjzz in the late 1980s
G.Patterson- there are a lot of songs that have Mr. Wright' s loops they where tight but his where even tighter. He really made a contribution and impact on funk and dance for some of the real listeners... I'm still hooked on " Who do you love " I have been a fan of that song since I was a kid. Like dude Said earlier good find Pandora ! That duet was freshhh... continued success Mr. Wright.... definitely David !
His discography is small...but very influential in what became the rap / hip hop world. The debut album (Nard) is a funk / dance MUST HAVE.
This is for the G's... I always wondered where Snoop & Dre got that song from. That was FONKAY!

Kinda' remember this cat. Was he the keyboards on the Tom Browne album Brown Sugar? If so...that keyboard solo on Promises For Spring has stuck with me for life.Good find Pandora.
When I was 16, my boyfriend at the time - taught me the baseline to "Just Chillin' Out" - I was beside myself with joy & pride!!! "Nard" was the album - we LOVED it - every cut on that jon't!!!
he's playing the club scene in dallas, tx. still as brilliant, friendly, sweet, and charming as ever. had him autograph my copy of tom browne's "love approach" (the album containing his keyboard performance on "funkin' for jamaica" and others). he's really gracious and grateful that people still love and remember him. apparently, he's lived here in dallas for at least the last 25 years. wonderful, wonderful person...rea l l y .
What happened to him? I loved this guy and many like him, Tom Browne, Rene&Angela especially
Knew him personally.. w a s a production of Weldon Irvine(RIP). ( P e n n e d Young, Gifted and Black for Nina Simone).a little known Keyboard Artist that seemed to have become a Guru and Guide to people like Q-Tip and Mos-Def in the early stages of Hip-Hop. Tom Brown, Al Flithe and others were a musicians that rose from the Hollis-St.Al b a n s - Jamaica music scene. Bernard along with Bernie Drayton's Son, and a couple of others opened for Earl Klugh at what was then the TownHall, in NYC. Their performance
What happened to this dude, I mean Haboglabotri b i n ' was the jam back then, I remember I was a DJ at a college station and I had mixed this song to play for over 15 minutes, man I had so many calls for people listening in asking me to do it again.
Very mellow, jazz-tinged r&b jam reminisent of the 70's........ .
