Big Business (Rock)

A rhythm section that says "Guitarists? We don't need no steenkin' guitarists!," Big Business is a two-piece band that does the sludgy, low-end stoner metal thing as well as any more fully populated act. Big Business formed in Seattle in 2003, comprised of two veterans from the local alternative metal scene: bassist and singer Jared Warren, formerly of Karp, and drummer Coady Willis, formerly of the Murder City Devils. After releasing a self-titled demo in 2004 on their own Wantage USA label, Big Business signed with the indie Hydra Head Industries label for their proper debut album, Head for the Shallow, in early 2005. After touring in support of the album, Willis and Warren relocated from Seattle to Los Angeles in early 2006. Later that year at the invitation of fellow Pacific Northwest transplant Dale Crover, Willis and Warren became the rhythm section of Crover's long-running sludge metal act, the Melvins, starting with the album A Senile Animal. For that release's tour, Big Business performed an opening set on their own, followed by a set backing Crover. The duo's second album, 2007's Here Come the Waterworks, featured a slightly wider range of influences and instrumental dynamics, including occasional bits of synth and guitar. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi

This is the SH*T!
I went to see the Biz, one of the best decisions I've ever made.
i wanna be Big Business when i grow up
ay.verver
I think they lay the s**t down right. Hard, Heavy, Fast!
Mind the drift SUCKSSSS. Toshi Kasai needs to stick with producing because his guitar "skills" are boring as hell and pretty much ruined big business for me. I can't even listen to mind the drift and that's saying a lot because head for the shallow and here comes the waterworks are two of my favorite albums right now.
I was honestly only partial to Mind the Drift until I saw them in Seattle last november. I was blown away. This is a band that is here to simply rock the hell out of a crowd for 2 hours. You probably havent seen these guys on Headbangers Ball for the simple reason the sound would rupture the speakers of anyone without a good sound system and likely make some screamo kids head cave in on itself.
well, now they have a stinking guitarist. Mind the Drift kind of blows. although The Bride Screamed Murder is great!
f'n love these guys. saw them locally about 6 months ago and was blown away. love the Melvins but these guys were incredible!! ! ! !
righteous tones!
What is it about Seattle?

Say what you will about Grunge.....m a n y seem to hate it for some reason (which i totally do not understand.. . . w i t h bands like AIC & Nirvana....c o m e on?) but Seattle is just an amazing place that breeds KICKFUCKINGA S S rock music.

From Hendrix, to Heart, Queensrych, Pearl Jam, AIC, SOUNDG, NIRVANA..... . T H E MELVINS!!!

Seattle friggin ROCKS!
very good tunes. everything they put out is golden. yep austin show rocked. I hold them up there with Clutch.
reminds me of Death from Above 1979
I likes!!!!!!
yea the first time i saw them was opening for the melvins. easter romantic live is sick...then they pulled the dual drummer thingy

this was in austin, tx btw

f**king f**king f**king f**king f**king f**king amazing
proof that rock isn't dead yet
They keep playing "Easter Romantic" off the "Head for the Shallow" album. I like that song despite it's murky quality. I think it's the vocals that work for me and the way it's sung. I can't say if i actually like these guys just based off this one song- but I think this song is pretty fun!
Karp was the SH*T and BB is picking right up there. Does he use a pick on the bass? Never seen them live.
folfer2000
like every one else I saw them opening for the Melvins and they kicked so much a** I went and saw them when they came back to town with out then Melvins
wbtgriffith

Wantage USA is not "their own label." Either way, a bad a** group.
