The Big Sleep

The post-rock/experimental outfit the Big Sleep feature Danny Barria (guitar), Sonya Balchandani (bass/vocals), and Gabe Rhodes (drums). The Brooklyn-based trio creates a brooding batch of psychedelic rock with an indie rock aesthetic. Prior to forming the Big Sleep in 2005, Balchandani made her debut with the stylish noise pop band Hong Kong, while Barria played with Haywood and the Detroit dream pop act Mahogany. They also self-released the You Today, Me Tomorrow EP before landing a recording contract with French Kiss in early 2006. Son of the Tiger marked their LP debut in September of that year while 2008's Sleep Forever earned comparisons to Sonic Youth's early work. They returned in 2012 with a smaller line-up, just Barria and Balchandani, and the album Nature Experiments which featured the single "Ace." ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi

Simply amazing!!! This is the reason I listen to pandora. Nothings better than music that stops you in mid-conversa t i o n and say "who is that" makes you run to the computer just so you can hear more.
Saw them at Bonnaroo a couple years back. Great band, great live, great albums.
This band is great... somebody needs to get the word out. They seem unrated or unheard of. This band caught my attention by "Pinkies" (have to agree with 'J' on that one - EPIC fo sho) And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead station I made here on Pandora introduced me.

The track "Brown Beauty" kinda reminds me of the Butthole Surfers. That's a good thing in my book.
Pinkies has a powerful grin.
