The Birthday Massacre

New wave revival outfit the Birthday Massacre formed in London, Ontario, in 2000 -- originally dubbed Imagica, the founding lineup was comprised of frontwoman Chibi, guitarists Rainbow and M. Falcore, bassist Aslan, keyboardist Dank, and percussionist O.E. After recording a seven-song demo session, Dank left Imagica and the remaining members relocated to Toronto, where a second demo release followed in mid-2001. Upon renaming itself the Birthday Massacre, the group released its debut LP, Nothing & Nowhere, in the summer of 2002. With the resignation of O.E., the lineup welcomed keyboardist Adm and percussionist Rhim prior to recording a follow-up EP, 2004's Violet. Adm quit the Birthday Massacre prior to an expanded European release of Violet on the German label Repo -- in 2005, the band signed to the Metropolis imprint to issue the disc in North America and the U.K., adding keyboardist O-en for a tour of Western Europe. In 2007 the band released their third album, Walking With Strangers, on Metropolis, then set out on tour with Mindless Self Indulgence and Julien-K. Three years later, the band put released 2010's Pins and Needles, followed up quickly by an EP, Imaginary Monsters, in 2011. ~ Jason Ankeny

I just wish the albums where easier to find locally, I like my hardware and don't want to buy digital

Imagica just appeared on Google Play Music so I've heard it. You will like it if you liked the Nothing And Nowhere album. The sound is a lot like that, which I think is fantastic. I bought Nothing And Nowhere on CD, I liked it so much.

Tbh I'm really not sure why I'm so drawn to this band, but I definitely am. Just seems so familiar but in a unorthodox way. Lol not sure how else to put it. It's like 80s pop-goth mixed with my favorite metal and done perfectly. Good music is good I guess :)

Fell in love with this band a while ago, seen them nearly every time they've been to the states and I still never tire of ANY of they're songs. ^_^

Fell in love with this band several years ago after hearing Happy Birthday on an episode of The Vampire Diaries. My Teenage sons also love TBM and are the only ones in their school to have even heard of them! They need better promotion and to come to Atlanta and play the Mascarade before they tear it down!

I definitely agree it is easy to love just about every single song from TBM. I only just found them about 2 years ago on here and they became my new favorite band. They should be famous....so m e o n e needs to promote them better (Hello, Hot Topic!?) or something... w h a t e v e r we can do to keep them creative, inspired, and productive :)

As for the rabbits, they remind me of 2 things: Alice in Wonderland's white rabbit leading you down hole to Wonderland.. . . a n d the movie Donnie Darko.

They do a lot of songs I like! :D Their purple black covers are amusing (spooky w/humor (what's the deal with the rabbits?!)), interesting, and fun! :D Always a great sound and instantly recognizable ! :D
