The alternative rock combo Black Lab originally formed in the Bay Area in 1995 around vocalist Paul Durham, bassist Geoff Stanfield, guitarist Michael Belfer, and drummer Bryan Head. Named Black Lab, the quartet began getting rave reviews around San Francisco and signed to Geffen Records in 1996. In October 1997 the band released their debut album, Your Body Above Me. Time Ago followed a year later, but the band broke up in 1999. Signed by Epic in 2000, Durham started a new chapter for Black Lab, collaborating with guitarist/programmer Andy Ellis. They placed a track on the Spider-Man soundtrack, but ended up leaving Epic before the release of their second album, See the Sun, which was eventually self-released in 2005. They also appeared on the soundtracks for Varsity Blues, The Shield, Blade Trinity, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The duo released Passion Leaves a Trace in early 2007. A pair of B-sides collections followed (Technologie, Give Us Sugar), then in 2010, the studio follow-up Two Strangers appeared. ~ John Bush, Rovi
I hear more than one Katy Perry song between the chords and on top, of course she came after, as her video from Last Friday Night was a montage of multiple Geneva Jacuzzi music video's. A & R at major labels are such geniuses or I mean Dr.Luke is a total genius....when it comes to other artists material this is...........
Saw these guys open for Our Lady Peace back in 98 I believe. Great live band but unfortunately they seem to stick to the West Coast. Absolutely love their music though, even after all these years.
they need to fix their cover for passion leaves a trace.

nice... kinda has that NIN lyrical song lines and industrial noise and the repetitive yelling of end lines "the sound the sound..." for example in river of joy.... so i wouldn't say new sound.

One of my favorite bands. See the Sun is easily one of the best CDs I own. I can't understand why they don't get more attention.
