Black Label Society

After falling out with mentor Ozzy Osbourne following the recording sessions for 1995's Ozzmosis, guitarist Zakk Wylde struck out on his own with his first solo album, Book of Shadows, in 1996. When it failed to score any mainstream success, the six-stringer took an extended break before resurfacing with a new album and band called Black Label Society in 1999, featuring Wylde on vocals, guitar, and bass and drummer Phil Ondich. A number of different musicians would sift through the band's ranks during the convoluted tour that followed, but Ondich was back on the drum stool by the time Black Label Society recorded 2000's Stronger Than Death album for new label Spitfire Records. The subsequent tour included a slot on the second stage of his old boss' Ozzfest tour and yielded the Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live!! album in 2001. The band returned to Ozzfest the following year (this time on the main stage) in support of the 1919 Eternal LP. Blessed Hellride appeared in 2003 and Hangover Music, Vol. 6 followed a year later. Mafia, Black Label Society's seventh album, was released in spring 2005. The following October, Spitfire Records issued the Wylde work compilation Kings of Damnation: Era 1998-2004. In 2006, the band began their relationship with the Roadrunner label with a new album, Shot to Hell.

The Black Label Society’s engagement with Roadrunner was short-lived, with the band departing the label the following year. Most of 2007 was spent with the members pursuing other projects - Wylde once again toured with Ozzy, while current members bassist JD Deservio and guitarist Nick Catanese concentrated on their own bands. A compilation called Skullage appeared in 2009, then Wylde pulled the band - now featuring Catanese and Deservio and drummer Will Hunt - into the studio for Order of the Black, Black Label Society’s eighth album, released in the summer of 2010. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi

I agree, pure heart and soul! You feel the pain, anger, and happiness when listening to any of his songs!
It zaks unique voice that make his songs what they are. Not to many of today's so called artist truely put there whole heart and soul into what they write and sing
Besides his guitar solos make the music.very talented fella
I dont know bro i dig zakk's vocals.espec i a l l y Rust
Would love this band if they had a different vocalist. Zack is NOT a singer, and his lack of range, ruins otherwise good songs.

I've seen Black Label Society Four times, the best was in a little theater in DFW Metroplex, ( the Majestic, or some such). It was in a neighborhood , when we got in the first thing you run into as the line led in was a bar selling, what else, longneck bottles(glas s s**t)! Only two bottles were smashed over peoples heads, and nick was handing out Beck's beer in the longneck to those of us on the front two rows. Best f**king show I ever saw. Mind you I've seen Ozzy and Metallica eight times each!

Love Zakk...Met him twice, he's real nice guy, and the CD's rip....Howev e r , in concert is a different story, the sound quality is not where it should be, not sure why???
Saw BLS on the Sonic Brew tour after Ozzy stiffed Iowa about 3 times. I thought it would be alot like P&G, had not heard Sonic Brew yet. Shockingly good, Mary Mary live was brilliant, thanks Zakk.
For me Pride&Glory is one of the finest ever heard, i dig BLS alot. Just really love the soul of P&G.

phil7484
Saw the Black Label Society open for Judas Priest - couldn't wait for them to get off the stage. All the songs sounded the same and Zak played the longest, lamest, guitar solo I'd ever heard. He's all technique and flash with no real punch. Priest came out and showed why they are the backbone of old-school heavy metal.
zakk is is a guitar god, if you dont recognize that than you dont what your talking about!!
sherrijsam
S.D.M.F. 4LIFE.....
