Bob James is the quintessential jazzman and a progenitor of the Jazz Funk era. He has influenced countless musicians and laid down some serious tracks, particularly during the entire decade of the 70's. If you haven't listened to Bob James 3, BJ 4, and Heads, you are really missing some great music. Thanks Bob for some great memories of a great era of music.
i don't really like "smooth jazz", per se, the subgenre is pretty much the same as easy listening music (or muzak) and it puts me to sleep. BUT bob james is great. he has a unique quality that sets it far apart from the smooth jazz folks like david sanborn and najee. he is a great musical stylist.
