@Stephanie Santos...while it was literally only 5-6 years before Nirvana, Nirvana was considered to be such a ground-breaking, genre-defining band at the time, that they were credited with pretty much killing 80's mainstream rock music (especially hair metal!); so, though it was only 5-6 years, the grunge world seemed like a whole lifetime removed from the care-free, innocent 80's!
Who's not preoccupied with the 80's in general. That was the last decade of really great rock. But, I have to add, how is a 5-6 year difference way before Nirvana?
I rememebr when this song first came out-My friend Bridgett and i sangf it for our mums and they cried...It randomly popped up on my playlist and made my night!
It is sad how many people think Bowling for Soup wrote this song. This is a cover. The original being written and performed by SR-71. SR-71 is an awesome and underrated group, go check them out.
It is funny and absolutely true. So many party girls and boys caved and went "socially acceptable" and gave up all the fun in their life. I had a blast in 1985 but I still have a cool attitude and always will. F**k the establishment. Ladies don the snakeskin miniskirt and dance on your husbands faces. Never say die!
the 70s were awesome but as college class of 1980, this is pretty cool omage to the 80s as well and my white 1984 Honda Accord LX with blue velour cassette, graphic equalizer, power everything, sunroof and those fancy plastic wheel covers that looked Audi 5000 alloy wheels.

Yes, but a lotof the lingo is updated so that the teens and tweens at the time of release could relate. Plus, the musical style was updated as well.
