On February 21, 1989, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) addressed students at Kingston University in London about his conversion to Islam and was asked about the controversy in the Muslim world and the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie's execution. He replied, "He must be killed. The Qur'an makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die." Just so you all know what a piece of sh#t the guy is.
This tune is a Christian Hymn. It was written a a modern Psalm in the 30s. The earth declares God's majesty and glory.(Psalm19:1) It's so cool to hear it in contemporary music. He does speak to us through music; to those that have the ear to hear. Rev Rob

I have to agree with you, Thomas Grieco. Also, it appears, the song is incorrectly attributed to Cat--it's a traditional Christian hymn published in 1931. I remember singing it in church, out of the hymnal, and being impressed that Cat Stevens had chosen to use it. Plus, getting to sing a "Cat Stevens" song in church was pretty cool. Learning he denounced his music to follow a different "path" was disappointing, but I'm always moved to hear Cat's version. And Wakeman's piano--should have known.
cwi tg, did you read the lyrics? and chromick, although I sort of agree with you that all paths lead to GOD, to say that everyone needs to believe that in this manner on Pandora may put off the people you're identifying. There is no us and them. There is only we, humanity. We are all GOD's children and are no better for our beliefs or perceived level of spirituality.
I've always loved this song; but it has special meaning for me since my sister (now 50) sang it at a competition in middle school (35ish years ago!). Now, every time I hear it, I'm taken back to that time.
pray for all of you who cannot understand that GOD is bigger than any judgment we may put on one another. Indeed our Brother has the spirit of Christ and is pointing us toward the true living God.

Pray for this man, because the god he has chosen is a angry made up god. He has so much to offer this world.
