Weighing in at 250 pounds, Chubb Rock (born Richard Simpson) often evokes images of a hip-hop Barry White (whom he dueted with on And the Winner Is...). Chubb Rock had a group while he was a teenager in New York but started his career in earnest after he dropped out of college. After three singles from his first album went nowhere, his second album, And the Winner Is..., was released to greater commercial and critical acclaim, thanks to a remixed single version of "Caught Up" that was released prior to the album. After 1991's One and 1992's I Gotta Get Mine Yo, Chubb Rock's career again faltered, and five years passed prior to the release of Mind. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
What a jerk to say Biggie stole Chubb Rock's style, silly YOU DONT KNOW A THING ABOUT HIP HOP! Back then artist admired eachothers styles and respected the buzz artist got! NUFF RESPECT DUE to all my true Hip Hop Heads! Juice
What the heck do you mean his career fultered? Who ever the publisher is of this BIO on my man Chub Rock Dunno what they are talking about. his records were no#1 hits on lots of radio stations back then and then he moved on to be a simi movie star. So please update your bull crappy BIO of this man
Chubb Rock is one of the most underrated rappers in the game. He is a good lyricist and his beats were pretty much on point. I think Biggie copied Chubb's style is some of his earlier work.
