The Clarks

Since their formation in Pittsburgh in 1988, the Clarks have been grinding out country-influenced garage rock. Though guitarist/vocalist Scott Blasey, guitarist Rob Hertweck, bassist Greg Joseph, and drummer David Minarik built their early reputation on college campuses, their straight-ahead rock sound seemed equally compatible with commercial radio and barhalls across the rust belt. Their debut album, I'll Tell You What Man, produced a regional hit, "Help Me Out," and gained unusually strong radio play for a self-produced album. Subsequent releases -- The Clarks, Love Gone Sour Suspicion and Bad Debt (with Hertweck now going by Robert James), and The Clarks Live -- each doubled the sales that had been earned by the previous album and developed the Clarks from a Pittsburgh phenomenon into a band that had great regional appeal and a small national presence. That presence was solidified thanks to the band's move to major label MCA with 1997's Someday Maybe; however, the Clarks remained silent for three years afterward, even as their back catalog became available nationally through the King Mouse label. They finally returned in 2000 with Let It Go, their first album for Razor & Tie. The label kept them on the roster, and the following year they stepped back into the studio to work with producer Justin Niebank on Another Happy Ending, released in the summer of 2002. ~ Stacia Proefrock, Rovi

too bad they're music isn't more widespread throughout country. The are truly one of the greatest bands out there. So lucky to live in western pa and get to enjoy seeing them live so often!!!

I grew up listening to these guys and used to love to head to the sous side and see them at Nicks. They make me home sick every time I here em. Please come to Charlotte. There's a large contigent of displaced Pittsburgher s down here that would love to see you cats head this way and play some shows.
Would give my left arm, leg, ear, nut, whatever if they would make a southern tour again.
saw scott and rob live at club cafe recently. the real essence of this band comes thru at this venue where there is no place to hide. well done acoustic set!

I'm very glad The Clarks are doing better nationally, but I really miss the days of seeing them play at bars like the Decade and Artery back in their early days in "the Burgh"!!!
They're are surprisingly great at what they sing...wow. Thank you Clarks
The Clarks are big fans of Pandora!
I wish they would tour farther south - I caught several live shows when I used to live in the DC area, which is about as far south as they ever toured. I'm in Atlanta now and need my live Clarks fixx...

The Clarks are great band with a great sound...I really wish that they would tour more in the Midwest, though...
My cousin was the person who originally got me interested in The Clarks. Shortly thereafter, they played Fallfest at WVU this past August and from there, I've been totally hooked. I've seen them twice since then and I can't wait till the next show I'll get to go to. =>

used to go listen to the clarks at tulley's in downtown sharon, pa back in the late 80's early 90's. They are absolutely one of the great rock & roll bands around. I now live in NE ohio and tell everybody that the Clarks are the ONLY good thing to ever come out of Pittsburgh. Keep on rockin.
great band with a great sound and great lyrics to great songs ... i wish they would explode nationally and get the credit they have worked so hard for ... i used to go to 2 or 3 concerts of theirs a year but have moved away from the greater pittsburgh/m o r g a n t o w n area and havent had the chance
I love listening to the Clarks. Awesome band. Have missed them since moving to Florida in 2002. Caught them live at the Hard Rock in Pittsburgh in June 2006 (Still Live release gig). I still buy the cds from the band as well as Greg & Scott B.
