The luminously lovely indie folk-tronic duo CocoRosie consists of the Casady sisters, vocalist/guitarist/harpist Sierra and vocalist/percussionist Bianca. Both sisters had an early love of music that they pursued as they grew up, albeit in different ways: Sierra began operatic vocal training while she was in high school, while Bianca sang and wrote songs but kept them to herself. That is, until she reconnected with Sierra, who joined Bianca at her Paris apartment, and they started playing and recording songs together. The fruits of their labor, La Maison de Mon Reve, was released in spring 2004 by Touch and Go and was predated by a string of dates in New York with Devendra Banhart, the Gena Rowlands Band, Battles, and Ratatat. Their second album, Noah's Ark, which featured cameos by Devendra Banhart and Antony of Antony and the Johnsons, arrived in fall 2005. 2007's The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn was a more polished but still eclectic effort. The following year they released the single God Has a Voice, She Speaks Through Me, which also appeared on 2010's Grey Oceans. Inspired by the sisters' travels through Europe, Australia and South America, the album was released by Sub Pop. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
I have seen cocorosie twice, honestly two of the best shows i have ever been to. the first time i had seen them was at coachella, i hadnt even heard them yet but i sat on the stage and stayed throughout their entire set. they even had their mom do a guest appearence. it was really great. i will always listen to and appreciate these girls' style of music.
I was introduce to the group by my 16 year old daughter, and since then I cant stop listening.. there something about their music that relaxes me... Love it!

They have a female beatboxer joining their Europe tour this summer,Ashley Moyer, she is pretty amazing too.
@escalade, TOTALLY right! I went to a live concert they did too and it was one of the best ever! Its like no other and they know how to keep the whole place alive. and the beatboxer guy is just simply amazing.
Saw them live and I have to say it was one of the best concerts ever. The beatboxer guy they added is amazing! He did a "song" by himself for 6 or 7 minutes that blew me away. Their recorded stuff is good, but live they are amazing!
can't believe some of the comments people are leaving.. are people really that blind to what music says anymore?? wake up and listen.. cocorosie took a song I grew up with. " jesus loves me" and stopped me in the mere confusion that this wasn't a kid song at all..it was a story. ever since that, every song I heard on that little tape cassette in Idaho was the beginning of a very heartfelt life...
