A resident of Missouri, Connie Dover is the stunning singer with the American-Irish group Scartaglen. She became interested in British and Irish music in the '70s, but started out playing bluegrass. She got involved in the Kansas City Irish music scene, and joined Scartaglen in the early '80s. The '90s have brought a blossoming solo recording career. ~ Steve Winick, Rovi
Tha e ma is only part of a longer phrase. the full phrase being tha e cho math dhut a bhith beò an-dràsta, which would translate to its as well for you to be alive right now.
I saw Connie In the early nineties ,in a fixed up barn venue in somewhere in northeast Ohio I think with Scartaglen. It was a bright summer day I ran into her on the grounds for a moment . Unforgettable .
Thank you Pandora for allowing us to discover gems like this

Thanks to Pandora for exposing us casual listeners of Celtic/folk to the likes of Connie, Loreena, and others thru creating our own channels. I started with a Celtic Woman station, and gradually Pandora introduced me to these other ladies with the same lyrical voices.
What a treasure I've discovered today!! Please come back to Missouri to perform, Connie!

On, BTW, as glorious as Connie's voice is, her instrumentals are quite beautiful as well. If you haven't heard it, listen to On Castle Rock from the Somebody album/CD. Just as her voice does, it brings me to tears!

Connie is my favorite singer EVER. I fell in love with Celtic music, and her in particular, about 15 years ago. I've seen Connie in concert twice and she is very nice and congenial when you meet her. I also wish she would do another CD soon!
Barry, she used to play in Weston, MO (outside of Kansas City, MO) at the Irish Fest but she felt the music wasn't what it used to be (so I've heard). I've yet to find her play anywhere else.

Amen, Richard. I could listen to her voice forever, with or without accompaniment, in English, Gaelic, Latin or French; not a voice like it. Not to mention the simple beauty of her songs, original or traditional. Love them all.

Her ability to sing in the traditional celtic languages is exceptional.Like one of the Ladies of the Sidhe whispering to your soul.
I like Custer LaRue, too, Sebastian. I have all her albums. Gloomy Winter's Now Awa is also my favorite! But they don't have her on Pandora. I don't know why.
Many of the singers people rave about have very pretty but delicate voices. I like Connie Dover because her voice has a fullness that many of her peers can't come close to, as lovely as their singing may be.
wonderful voice! another voice i like is custer larue. There is a song, actually based on a poem, off of "lullaby journey"-glo o m y winter's now awa'- which is an all time favorite of mine. I'm betting that I'm in for some good listening with Connie Dover as well.
Go to the If Ever I Return album & play Who Will Comfort Me. If you appreciate wilderness at all it will almost break your heart. That song was my intro to her & I have heard it live!

Pure Deep and Full of Soul. Trained at Juliard and rode the cattle drive. Who could ask for more? I agree La Fontaine is beyond words. Wish she would come out to the left coast, I'd love to hear her in person. Just for kicks check out her high notes on an oscilloscope tracing..almost pure sine waves. By far the best interpreter of old old folk and Americana. Wish she would do a Civil War album...or anything!
