My favorite song ever. May have them play it at my funeral.
Eric was totally into it; he can't play like that anymore. I've heard other live versions by him that are boring. It was a one-off. The magic came and went, never to exist again, except on tape.

All the great guitar solos, the 2nd one on this is up there with any of them. And the way they kick the beat coming into the last verse is what it's all about.

The lyrics page lists SORAYA LAMILLA as the song writer. Couldn't be more wrong.

#1 Super Group of the 60s. Too bad they (as well as Blind Faith later on) didn't last longer.

One of my all time favorites!

The 60's music business had one big problem: radio stations wanted 2 minute songs, period, of course it also might have been a limitation of 45 records, which couldn't hold very long songs and were the way music was distributed to radio stations back then.

This recording generates emotions of heart attack intensity. It never gets old.Eric Clapton and the rest of Cream have achieved true greatness here.

This is possibly the hottest blues-rock performance ever recorded. This tune smokes!

bring back the 60's music business now a days is dead

Might be someone else's music but Eric plays it with his heart and soul.Notice that all the good blues artists play each others music in their own way with respect to the original artists .

Clapton was great and still is. But he never dreamed of being as good a guitarist as the pride of Texas, STEVIE RAY VAUGHN. HAHAHAHA!!!

Barrelhouse = A Roadhouse or Juke Joint. A type of backwoods nightclub, back in the day when the booze still came in big kegs and barrels.

Justin--"Cla p t o n ' s defining moment"--hig h l y debatable. What defined him as a guitar god was his work with John Mayall's Bluesbreaker s ; a case could be made for Derek and the Dominoes as well. Maybe his defining moment with Cream, if not his best. (though his box set is named after this song, so maybe you're right : > )
Report as inappropriate
Well, it was written by Robert Johnson, so it's a really old song; "barrel house" is no doubt some antiquated saying, maybe something regional and obviously slangy. No idea what it means, though!

This is absolutely one of my favorite songs of all time. They're phenomenal.

Don't forget 'humor' as an element. After phenomenal play, Clapton is praised for his 'vocals' at the end.
