Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice launched his music career in the late-'90s with the hard-hitting indie rock outfit Juniper. The group signed to Polygram in 1997 and released two singles, "The World Is Dead" and "Weathermen," which did moderately well on Irish radio, but when it came time to record a full-length album, contractual rules from the label prevented Juniper from doing so, and Rice split. After a brief respite in Europe, Rice returned to Dublin to focus on music once again, scrounging up enough money to record a demo. He sent it to producer/film composer David Arnold (Björk, Nina Persson, Paul Oakenfold), and luckily for him, Arnold loved it and set Rice up in his very own mobile studio to make a record. His first single, "The Blower's Daughter," was an instant Top 20 hit when it appeared in fall 2001. Shared gigs with McAlmont & Butler and folkie Kathryn Williams followed in summer 2002 when Rice released O in the U.K. The album hit the States in 2003, which earned the Irishman a dedicated group of American fans in addition to his European ones, and after satiating all of them with a collection of B-sides in 2005, Rice released his sophomore record, 9. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
Such a soulful talented artist, Damien Rice effective at capturing the heart and soul of the listener and evoking such emotion. I cannot help but feel intensely inspired when listening to his music. Truly one of the best artists out there right now.
Damien basically just has the most relaxing music i have ever heard. It's nice to hear a geniune artist who sings from the soul every once in a while. His voice is breathtaking, and so is lisas.

Damien Rice might be my favorite all-time artist. He's a genius. He has some of the most intelligent lyrics and emotional deliveries ever. He is truly one of a kind. Who else could make you fall in love with a crazy, stylized song about an Eskimo friend, ha? Plus, his songs in Spanish and French are wonderful. I hope he continues to record music for a long, long time. By the way Damien, when is your next album coming out?
The movie Closer had a haunting impact on me to this day because of your songs. The Blower's Daughter and all of your songs are amazing! Thank you for being you ;-) Barb Heiam-Bjorns e n , Astrologer and inspirationa l forum host for Alternative Practitioner s
Huggles, at least it is less offensive than your normal post. The grammar could be better, though. You don't need a comma. I guess they don't teach the 3Rs too good in Douglasville, huh? I noticed that you have a Damien Rice radio station, and I am wondering why, if you are so anti-Rice.

Lisa Hannigan. They broke up - he fired her right before a gig. Hence, my previous opinion that he is a d-bag who can sing and write good music. A d-bag nonetheless.
went to his concert in california about 5 years back because a lady friend really wanted me to hear him play. never regretted hearing him and would like to see him continue to blossom. Before he got onto stage there was this woman, she had a great voice, but she moved around as if she were on some type of drugs. can't remember her name, but would recommend her. i will buy his cd's and support him.

What happened to him and Lisa? And does anyone know her last name?
