This is for my Father, he was also my friend. A trumpet player, a friend to those in the groups I worked for in the '70s.
The other song I really like is the one about New Year's Eve. Reminds me of my first Wife. Our song was "Still The One.". Also, "Still". by Lionel. Ritchie.

My older brother who I have looked up to all my life! Turned me on to this when I was young! Thanks for all you have done bro! Especially serving for our freedom! God Bless you Ken! Even though you are retired Sgt. now! I am still very proud of you, and so would Mom & Dad, though they aren't with us physically. For all you have done for our family! my Leader of the band and of Family! You are a guardian Angel, and protector of our Family! You have went above and beyond! Love you! Your sis! Sue!

My government teacher in high school loved this song. He was also very helpful in booking some of the first shows I played in and that was when it all began for me, and I am thankful for all the help in making music a possibility for me.

When I hear this song I think about my own life and the life of my brothers and my father. Its amazing to me that a song can touch you, really touch you, the way this song touches me. My father is the leader of my band. I have two brothers and we all landed in different places doing differet things. My business took me around the world, living out of hotels for twelve years. I am a legacy to the leader of my band!

Brings back fond memories of my tour in Alaska with the U.S. Air Force in the mid-eighties . I always loved it when this song played on the radio and couldn't hear it often enough. One of my all time favorite melodies. Wonderful, wonderful song.

Having had the "Leader of the Band" as a band director, every word is correct in the song. Thanks for the memories.
