Seeing Bowie live back in 1987 was one of the highlights of my entire concert-going history!! Never forget it; one of the last true performance artists in rock and roll.
I saw Trent & David perform this song together when they Co-headlined their tour together in 96'and it was one of the best shows i've ever been to! And i've seen hundreds of shows; theirs was easily a top ten! If only they'd tour together once again, though thats highley unlikly!
This is definitely the NIN version. You can def make Trent out on a duo with Bowie on the last refrain. I have the original at home and it's much more late 70s sounding Bowie. Dunno where to find it here though
But I don't think this is the NIN-produced version of the song. I think Trent only showed up on the single version and this is the album cut. Shows how much of the song was already in place... but the single version has that something extra that elevates it. That's a great vid, too...
trent resnor of NIN fame had produced this little diddy, he even makes a cameo in the music video. wich is why i think Gillian Star Bender thinks this is so simular to NIN. could be wrong tho.
So frickin Wierd. God Damn. I can't believe how trippy and surreal Bowie was back in the day. It just makes you realize how far ahead of time he actually was. Compare this to Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson and you would see their sound is very similar to this.
