I love Bowie!
to sort of jump off of what mr4 is saying. I think this song is about how people are sucked into commercialis m when we could be exploring the cosmos
Favorite Bowie tune
Mr4, well said. In one short sentence I think you posit an interesting interpretati o n of the song. The swelling orchestratio n captures the hope, and excitement in sheer possibilitie s that the movie scenes represent. The thin piano melody, the loneliness and alienation felt by the girl with the mousey hair.

On a side note, Hunky Dory is hands down one of the all time great rock and roll albums.
A critique of entertainmen t escapism
This song is a big reason why David Bowie is my favorite solo artist. He's frankly amazing and this song proves it.
Listened to this song when I was 12. Its a great album . My whole family would clean house on Sat.listenin g to this album among others. Great memories . All tracks have meaning.

I adore Bowie's music!!
I absolutely love you, David Bowie
Bowie invented change and evolution for music artists. Haunting and inviting at the same time.
Such a great song. Also a good tv show.

agreed- one of the best ever... I am glad it doesn't get as much play... It would suck to see a song like this ruined from overplay!

Truth. So amazing.
