Deathstars

Deathstars are a Swedish goth metal band that broke through to domestic mainstream success in 2009 with their third album, the Top Ten hit Night Electric Night. Founded in 2000 in Stockholm, Sweden, the band is comprised of Whiplasher Bernadotte (vocals; born Andreas Bergh in 1977), Nightmare Industries (guitar, keyboards; born Emil Nödtveidt in 1976), Cat Casino (guitar; born Eric Bäckman in 1988), Skinny Disco (bass; born Jonas Kangur in 1979), and Bone W Machine (drums; born Ole Öhman in 1973). Prior to founding Deathstars, Nightmare Industries and Bone W Machine were members of the heavy metal band Swordmaster, founded in 1993. Deathstars made their album debut in 2002 with Synthetic Generation on the label LED Recordings. It was fairly successful for an independent label release, reaching the Swedish charts, and it earned the band a recording deal with the European division of one of the world's most prominent metal labels, Nuclear Blast, which reissued the album internationally in 2003. Deathstars' second album, Termination Bliss (2006), was also a minor hit, reaching the Swedish charts, and the band was chosen to support black metal heavyweight Cradle of Filth on their 2006 tour of Europe. The follow-up album, Night Electric Night (2009), was far and away Deathstars' biggest success to date, reaching the Top Ten in Sweden and charting in several other European countries. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi

Been a fan of Deathstars for bout 5 years Midwest USA. Seems this band could have a super trippy heavy sound. But for some reason any live video ive encountered seemed to be missing something. Great lyrics, needs better management and more equipment.

I would kill to see a show with Deathstars and Kissing in Graveyards together! It would be INSANE!!! Have you guys heard Kissing In Graveyards new music on bandcamp? Pretty awesome stuff. Rasputin's Reaping is one of my favorite songs of all time. Check it out look up KissingInGra v e y a r d s 6 6 6 on bandcamp! They are a newer band. Coming out with their first album in a few weeks. I'm dying in anticipation lol
for fuucks sake why does all the good s**t come from somewhere else!! f**kin awesome!
-_- y does pandora keep on ignoring the other albums
Dont read this it works ull be kussed on the nearest fri by love of live must post be dead two days
Blitzkreig reminds me of Bile's In League...the chorus...don ' t know if anyone else notices that or not.
Looks like Michael Jackson playing heavy metal!!!!
For the bottom of the page...
Agreed. The only decent American metal right now is LoG and DevilDriver, and Lamb of God has been around for long enough that it's almost a generation of difference. Children of Bodom were great when they came out, but f all if I can stand their lyric's anymore...I' l l settle for Samael and Nightwish if I need an aside, but either way, my metal playlist is almost entirely dominated by Euro bands at the moment.
theyre missing an album in the discography, termination bliss, i f**king love deathstars!!
Sounds kind of fake to me. They are try hards

BLITZKRIEGE!

Omg we do need termination bliss its got Blitzkrieg and a bucnh of other amazing songs :O
These guys are awesome
really want termination bliss on here whats up with that
We need Termination Bliss ..
they are awesome and they need to come to the states.
This band is awesome, but i wasn't really feeling their last album. I much prefer Termination Bliss, which i see Pandora doesn't have. -_-
Goth minister, deathstars, Darkseed, and rammstein are together in my playlists lol. what do you know their similiar -_- lol
Go Swedish Metal Bands! And I Actually Like The Vocals Lead Singer Has A Cool Voice.
good band
I just got Night Electric Night last night. ^_^
Still not sure what I think about this band name. Maybe if I created a band called the X-Wings, or Lando Calrisseans I would feel better about it. At least the music isn't bad...

Where's "Termination Bliss?"
The music is really good but I'm not feeling the vocals.
agreed.
but then again, the top ten in America is mostly pop artists. that's really sad. I keep an ear open for any decent American bands; I found a few, but they are mostly rock.
now, if I hear that a band is from Europe, I'll check them as soon as possible. lol
exactly, the top ten in america is a stroke....of mediocraty. anymore it seems my metal intake is aba anything but american damn shame but as i said the culture shock is deafening.th e scandinavian and european metal is continualy nothing short of prolific and briliant and we have lost our creativity.

stroke of mediocraty
to me, the Top Ten in Sweden is more comforting that the Top Ten in the US. if it was the latter, I'd have a stroke.
did that bio say top ten hit? WHERE? my god the culture shock is deafening.
their music videos are FREAKY.
their music, however, is badass from what I have heard.
I'm surprisingly really digging this band...enoug h to make a station with them.
They would skip Termination Bliss, which was way better than Night Electric Night.

3 stars (down from 3 1/2) - a solid musical act from Europe... entropic, nihilistic, rife with dark undercurrent s . Sadly, their new album "Night Electric Night" bares repetitious song structures, each roughly the same as the last. I'm also disappointed that DS used the phrase "lips like morphine" in their 'Venus in Arms' song lyrics, a line seemingly taken right from Kill Hannah's song 'Lips Like Morphine'. I'm still fond of the Deathstars, but they need to step-up their game with future albums.
Well, in recent years these guys have certainly getting more popular. At least where I live anyways.

Holy crap! These guys are awesome. I wonder if Best Buy sells there stuff. xD
Oh the American misinformed society :)
Plenty of Nazis in Sweden, take my word for it...Not to say that this band are affiliated.
how are these guys nazi's? they are from freakin Sweden
onyxrune
They are NOT Nazis.
Nazi's or not they kick a**.
these guys are kick a** but are they actualy nazizs cuz i dont wanna listen to a nazi band
Reminds me a bit of Karelia.

.. And they have another album on here! Yay!

As silly as these guys are they fill a little "glam goth" niche that I never new I had. I've never heard a band that can make me laugh out loud at their absurdity and then quiver in my shoes with awe moments later. The death Stars rule the night!
cool vocals
