Sgt. Serpent, Chuck Knuckles, Utah Biggs, Arm, and John Gredal comprise the heavy, aggressive metal sounds of Seattle's Demon Hunter. They hooked up with Aaron Sprinkle (MxPx, Dolour, Poor Old Lu) for their Solid State self-titled debut, which appeared in fall 2002. Their individual identities were later revealed as brothers (and ex-Training for Utopia members) vocalist Ryan Clark and guitarist Don Clark, drummer Jesse Sprinkle (ex-Poor Old Lu), bassist Joe Dunn, and guitarist Kris McCaddon (ex-Embodyment). Summer of Darkness was issued in mid-2004, after which a couple membership changes occurred. Sprinkle left to join Dead Poetic and was replaced by Timothy "Yogi" Watts (ex-Lonely Hearts), and McCaddon exited to be replaced by Ethan Luck (formerly of the O.C. Supertones). Triptych followed in 2005. Demon Hunter's fourth album, Storm the Gates of Hell, marked their debut on the mainstream U.S. album chart in late 2007. The concert albums 45 Days and Live in Nashville arrived in 2008 and 2009, respectively, followed in 2010 by the all-new studio recording The World Is a Thorn. The group's sixth full-length outing, True Defiance, arrived in 2012. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
Pretty good band. I have only heard a few of their songs, but I like them thus far. Oh darn it! Anberlin just came on! How did they get on my skillet station?!?!? Got to go thumbs them down. :P
Check out War of Ages they are great! Best Christian band I have heard yet by far...big variety in their music between hardcore and metal....GREAT STUFF!
Whether you like Demon Hunter or not, choose either because YOU like or do not like them, not because of what you're supposed to like or not like. I'm fairly agnostic these days but Demon Hunter kicks a** and I do get something out of the Christianity they exhibit -- some of it is violent, some of it is compassionate. Kinda like the real thing, no?
@mford1997 i think its because the military uses sleep deprivation as torture for terrorists. They play heavy metal to keep the terrorist awake during the torture, and they play it really loud.

I was interested to learn that these guys sent music to the military for terrorist interrogation. I wonder how that worked, do terrorists hate good Christian music?
Man, this band means a lot to me. It was actually my introduction to metal music, and I have loved everyone of their albums since, not to mention that they incorprate good, Christian teachings into their music. Its a shame Pandora doesn't have their self-entitled album. Through the Black is by far one of my all time Demon Hunter faves!

My favorite band! God has changed my life immensely through this band and saved me from depression and horrible sufferings. Jesus reaches out to us in many ways ;) The artwork on the album is spectacular and fitting along with the band name. It's an image of a demon with a bullet hole through its head, symbolizing spiritually defeating evil.
Don Clark stated, I guess we liked to ride the fence. Then we got a little older, maybe wiser, and you know what, we're a Christian<24> band. We're five dudes, we're all believers, we really don't want to ride the fence anymore. - Wikipedia. Seems legit to me, along with my study of their lyrics.
Braylynn, they are strong Christians as far as I know. You can't judge a bands morality by the cover of their albums. That is like judging a book by its cover. Sinnimmin, I don't believe they are fake. From their music and how they aren't caught up in the bad side of heavy metal you can tell. Their songs are what you interpret them as. What I think one song means you will have a whole other interpretation. That is why music is art. There are no right or wrong answers.
Are these guys truly Christian or do they per tray themselves to be in order to get a false following? Just wondering. Only heard one of their songs. They are not in the Christian section at the local music store and I don't want to listen to something wrong. Thanks for understanding and for the answers.
Really awesome with the heaviness, but not so heavy you don't wanna listen. Some good recommendations would be Undying, Lead Us Home, and Lifewar. But if there's any out there who are huge fans of Demon Hunter, I guess I don't have to tell you guys what to listen to.
