Check out his arrangement of 'OCarolan's Quarrel with the Landlady' on Men of Steel--simply one of the best things I've ever heard! Very different from most of the 'jig' arrangements of this tune (probably accurate, but I'll take Ross' version any day)--treat yrself. If I ever get a cell, this is the ringtone, lol.
Yep, it is about time people can really see how awesome he is. He is also very funny, he tells jokes between songs. It is an great experience seeing these guys in concert and supporting them. Candyrat knows how to pick the golden eggs.

Don Ross was my guitar instructor for a week at NGSW in Toronto way back in 1993. He is an extraordinary guitarist and an all-around fantastic person.

Techniquely beautiful stuff. Check out Brooks Williams too. This sounds like it's played on a harp guitar because the bass notes are REAL LOW. Niiiiice!
heart and soul delivered in thumping acoustic venues... a talent that grows from inside and expressed through a wooden box and strings... I like the authenticity... nuf said!
Truly a guitar player's guitar player. In the wonderful world of Hedges-style players, Mr. Ross seems to impart what we used to call "funk." I love it!
The music he makes feels sooooooooooooo incredibly good, between the simple, lovely melodies and intricate, beautifully articulated harmonies. He's outstanding among many exceptional guitarists.
Its not just when a guitarist is extremely skilled that you fall in love with their music, but its when their music, just like Don Ross's "Berkley Springs", fills your soul with an amazing intangible feeling, takes you back, and inspires you(if you are a guitarist like myself)to work SO MUCH HARDER to try and reach that level. Don Ross truly is an amazing piece of art himself. Gotta love his music.

I agree with Rankina. That place is laid back and so is this music...lovely! Thanks for being online!

We have seen him live and he is absolutely amazing. I am an accomplished fingerstyle guitar player but he is such a master that he's in a category by himself. His speed, drive, passion and sense of melody and counter melody are unique. we listen to his CDs at home and everyone asks "who is that?". Hes a Canadian treasure.
