Earshot is Tool-inspired metal outfit that performs a similar blend of moody heavy metal. The group formed in 1999 out of vocalist/guitarist Will Martin, guitarist Mike Callahan, guitarist Scott Kohler, and drummer Dieter Hartmann. The foursome signed to Warner Bros. after the label heard their melodic metal and entered the studio with producer David Kahne. After the recording session, the record was polished up by mixer Andy Wallace and released in the summer of 2002 as Letting Go. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
odd that, while they are "Tool-inspired", their similar artists do not include TOOL, let alone APC or Pucifer. amusing, as well. Like their music nonetheless.
I thought that having influences and inspirations was a sort of compliment to the influence. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flatery" Right! So why doesn't everybody just relax and enjoy a good band for fux sake. Idiots!
It must depend on the particular song you're listening to. Because the track entitled "Get Away" sounds exactly like Tool. In fact, before I looked I felt sure Pandora had queued up a B-Side from Lateralus or something.
blah blah blah... so unoriginal. the very much sound like a second rate tool... throw in some cookie cutter screamo and you get, well, these a**clowns, just what the world needs
I so agree jello, I have had a tough time finding what I think is quality metal these days.
Tool-esque is good. sounds great; not too much screaming, growling, whining, or songs about cheap sexual experiences going on. yay!
I don't see how anyone can argue about "Get Away," admittedly the only song I've heard from them thusfar, sounding like Tool. Is that good or bad? It's subjective. Personally not much of a Tool fan.
I thought these guys broke up after "Two" came out b/c the label dropped them? Glad to see them with another album tho!

And btw Earshot is awesome :D

I agree; who cares who they sound like? You don't need to throw insults at somebody over who you think a band sounds like. It's not worth it. It doesn't do anything except make you seem foolish.
