Pop vocalist Ed Ames was born Ed Urick in 1927. The youngest of four brothers, he began to sing with Joe, Gene, and Vic in the late '40s. The Ames Brothers hit the Top Ten three times between 1954 and 1957, and starred in their own series in 1955. After the group broke up in 1959, Ames traveled to New York to study acting; he appeared in a few stage productions and then accepted a role in the series Daniel Boone playing Mingo the Indian. He began recording again in 1964, eventually notching seven hits in the charts, including 1967's Top Ten single "My Cup Runneth Over." Twelve albums were eventually released from the mid-'60s to early '70s, including The Best of Ed Ames (1969). ~ John Bush, Rovi
Thanks to my parents I grew up with Ed's music. He will always be a family favorite

I heard this very song on XM Escape today; made me realize how much I missed his voice...I think I still have the records and they've been put on CD but I've forgotten to play them
I grew up listening to him! Saw him many times in concert in Southern CA! I too saw the PBS special and his voice reigns supreme! I converted many of his albums onto CD so I take the memories with me in my car and work!
Many of the big voices have tremendous staying power. Saw him on PBS a few years ago and he sounded marvelous! Couldn't say the same about Tony Martin, who, like many with high pitch voices, lose their magic as the years wear on.
Was my loves and my favorite artist. He is gone now but I can remember seeing Ed Ames with my husband on our anniversary. How nice to listen to him. Dr.T
My cup runneth over is one of my favorites. Also "Try to Remember a night in Sept".

My Cup Runneth Over. Was the love song of my late wife and I before we were married. I used to listen to it while in the Army, it always connected me with her. Still get tears when I hear it.

He definitely has a unique sound by today's standards. I can't help but think of some sort of Disney movie when I hear him sing. You know, something with Kurt Russel as a kid and some animals... and a mountain. Yeah that's the ticket!
My best memory of Ed was on the Johnny Carson show when he threw an axe at a cutout of a man, hitting the poor cutout right in the crotch, live on TV. I guffaw every time I see it replayed.
