Celtic rock band the Elders were formed in Kansas City, MO, by singer/percussionist Ian Byrne, a native of County Wicklow, Ireland, along with Americans Norm Dahlor (bass, banjo, guitar, vocals), Brent Hoad (violin, mandolin, keyboards, vocals), Steve Phillips (guitar, mandolin, vocals), and Brett Gibson (accordion). Phillips was a former member of the Rainmakers, which had made several major-label albums, but all of the musicians were middle-aged veterans of numerous previous groups, hence the name the Elders. They released their self-titled debut album on their own Pub Tone label in 2000. Drummer/percussionist Tommy Sutherland joined in August 2002. American Wake followed on April 6, 2004, and Pass It on Down a year later. Live at the Gem was released simultaneously as a DVD and CD on October 11, 2005. Joe Miquelon (keyboards, saxophone) joined the band for the next album, Racing the Tide, released January 30, 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
I have seen these guys at many festivals and such all over KC MO area and whether it was a free show or paid admission the energy they put out was amazing. You will never be let down by this band, they are totally fan driven and a great bunch of guys just go up and say hi, they love it.
I've known them since I met them in Ireland back when...fantastic group...love Ian, Norm, and all of 'em. I've seen them 2x in Ireland, several times in the Colorado Irish Festival, and once in concert. I'm a lifelong fan!
I'm Looking forward to seeing this band tonight for the first time at the Uptown Theatre in Kansas City St. Paddy's Day 2012 Celebration. Tiochfaidh ar la!
First saw them a few years back in Cheyenne, WY, in a free Friday evening concert, and was blown away. Seen them a couple of times since. The guys are great, last time we saw them in Butte, America, we ran into Ian before the show. It was a few days before my son's birthday (coincidentally named Ian as well),and told him that the show was part of my son's birthday present. My younger daughter got a kick out of Ian telling her to wake her brother up on his birthday morning with a sock in the

look up awesome in the dictionary and there are the Elders. VERY high energy performance, amazing musicianship, tight vocal harmony, true lyrics, etc. Definitely a GREAT group (everyone I've taken to an Elders show was blown away) and VERY highly recommended!
Please make a correction in your bio of The Elders. The band was founded by Brent Hoad and Norm Dahlor with Mike Bliss as lead vocalist. Ian Byrne replaced Bliss after his departure in 2004. Byrne's addition to the band as frontman certainly has added credibility and energy to the band but lets get the facts straight.

One of the Greatest Bands around. Always a great time for all when they play the Dubliner Pub in Omaha.
If you get the chance, see these guys in concert. They'll put on an excellant show. You'll be on your feet the whole time. They always rock the Irish Fest in Kansas City in sept.
