Portland, OR resident Matthew Cooper records under the alias Eluvium. His ambient washes and symphonic guitar pieces would feel equally at home on a Brian Eno record or a Fennesz recording. His debut release, Lambent Material, was released on the Temporary Residence imprint in 2003. This music makes me feel more than any other ever has. It makes me want to dance and cry and it's all a crazy mix, but instead of an intrinsic mess it is so calming and beautiful. I am captivated.

I agree, i use piano music to study as well. But, this one is definitely unique i had to stop and play it over and over for couple of times before listening to something else !

This is Great music for painting. New Animals is great. All the stuff is good and some of it is better than good. His most powerful piece to me is Repose in Blue, which is odd, I think, because I'm not at all a flag-waver.
I also just heard "One". If all of his stuff is similar to this, then I would say that his music sounds like a quiet and more gentle version of Explosions In The Sky...
I just heard "Radio Ballet" on All Things Considered as one of their between-story "buttons", and it instantly captivated me. I am always looking for music that will inspire me to dance, as this does.
