This is ELP's signature piece. First LP I ever bought was Tarkus then Abby Road, I WAS 14, it was cool but I had no idea what the HELL they were singing about. Loved the cut Battlefield. I was a very stupid 14 year old - it moved me!!!!!!PS, I can still be stupid and I can still be moved!!!!!!

Just to clarify my previous comment about the authorship of Lucky Man. It's just all about licensing agreements.

Saw This concert in Denver about, 74 Emerson. Had the keyboard fall on him, grabed the Jack D. That fell. Lying on his back, kept playing. The show must've go on. Awesome!

Saw them in the early 70's in Utica N.Y at a concert, where I was 2 feet from the stage all night long. They were ahead of their time. I believe that they were one of the first to use a electronic sythesizer, as it was just produced commercially . The sythesizer that they used that night was all wood with patch cords and was about 5 feet high; pretty wild. Great group !

I agree with droth770. ELP, King Crimson, Moody Blues, Yes... so many great prog rock bands that have been left out of the Hall of Fame...

I wasn't a keyboard player yet when ELP came to Albuquerque on the Brain Salad Surgery tour. This was the only song of theirs I had ever heard. I thought they were basically an acoustic band. I liked the song, but not enough to go to the concert. Biggest mistake of my life. The next day at school I heard all about it, my brother brought home the BSS album, and I've kicked myself in the butt ever since. If I knew then what I know now...

i love how this song ends as the moog synth shifts from one side to another, Greg's vocals are in the background and the drums along with the synth goes into reverb. awesome song!

Freedom is anything but free

Here is a band that should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame instead of some of the bands and individuals that they let in now. Moody Blues should also be in

AMAZIN' sound by three guys. Keith Emerson showed the world what Robert Moog's invention(sy n t h e s i z e r ) could do.

The 3 strikes of the bass drum and cymbal crash at the end....that is sheer genius in its simplicity. I love that part.
