Filthy Thieving B**tards

The Filthy Thievin' B**tards were originally a side project put together by members of the Swingin' Utters. Taking influence from folk-rock, as well as Celtic drunkards the Pogues, Johnny Bonnel and Darius Koski (both of the Utters) wrote an EP's worth of songs in 2000 and eventually released it as Our Fathers Sent Us on TKO Records. The two enlisted former Camper Van Beethoven guitarist Greg Lisher, producer Randy Burk (who ended up on drums), and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes singer Spike Slawson (who ended up on bass) to join the band and made an album that impressed both critics and listeners alike. The next year, the lineup reunited to record a full-length album, this time including Red Meat's Max Butler on mandolin. The result, A Melody of Retreads and Broken Quills, appeared at the end of 2001 on BYO Records; My Pappy Was a Pistol followed four years later. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi

The Bio makes me think it's saying /b/tards and I don't even go to 4chan.

love it
Awesome band. They don't have it on Pandora but Our Fathers Sent Us, to me, is there best cd. The song Red Roses is reason enough to love this band. Really an amazing song. Hopeless Vows is a great one too

I like it, It reminds me of mellow Ska Bands... But Irish.
It's no "Streets of San Fransisco" but it's ok
I dig it.
Indifferent to their sound, but they have the best damn name I think I've ever heard.

The singer is great, actually... not a conventional singing voice, but enjoyable anyway.
Not bad, not bad at all. This is my first listen, but i've been a fan of Johnny Peebucks and the Swingin' Utters since their beginning and tae think they stemmed frae that. I know members of the band have been heavily influenced by their Irish and Celtic roots so this is a refreshing little twist.
Did anyone see these guys opening for the Pogues in S.F. ???
GREAT SHOW !!!
