Flowers

London noise pop band Flowers began in 2012 when singer and bassist Rachel Kenedy answered guitarist Sam Ayres' "vocalist wanted" advert and the duo began working to make music that sounded like "early Madonna through a broken tape machine" and was inspired by the dark, fuzzy, reverb-heavy indie pop of groups like Black Tambourine, the Swirlies, and Henry's Dress. Adding drummer Jordan Hockley, they soon found themselves playing live around London often, eventually touring Europe with the Pains of Being Pure at Heart and even making it over to the States for 2013's New York Popfest. Flowers issued several 7" singles, EPs, and compilation appearances before their debut album, Do What You Want to, It's What You Should Do, materialized in 2014. The album featured ethereal production from noted producer and former Suede songwriter Bernard Butler. Their second album found Flowers recording with producer Brian O'Shaughnessey (the Clientele, My Bloody Valentine) at Bark Studios and featured a sound more akin to their live shows, with abrasive guitars to the fore. Everybody's Dying to Meet You was released by Fortuna Pop! in early 2016. ~ Fred Thomas

Sigh. This NOT the Noise Pop group from London. This is Flowers nee Icehouse, iconic New Romantics group from 80s Australia.
