The onetime frontman of the progressive rock group It Bites, singer/songwriter Francis Dunnery was born on Christmas Day, 1962 in Egremont, Cumbria, U.K. His tenure with It Bites began in 1984, and after three LPs concluded in 1990; during that time Dunnery invented the Tapboard, a unique guitar-like instrument fitted with such odd accessories as a shower hose and an egg timer. Turning towards a more conventional pop sound, he issued his first solo album, Welcome to the Wild Country, in 1991, and in 1993 played guitar in Robert Plant's touring band; his first Atlantic effort, Fearless, followed a year later. After 1995's Fearless, Dunnery issued a live effort titled One Night in Sauchiehall Street; upon leaving Atlantic, he signed with Razor and Tie to release Let's Go Do What Happens in 1998. A follower of astrology and metaphysics, he also wrote "MusicScopes," a weekly horoscope column for Billboard magazine. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
The Gulley Flats Boys may be my favorite CD by Francis. Never tire of listening to this guy. Wish he would tour the states more. His house shows sound like a one of a kind experience.

Francis Dunnery is a master of intellectual pop. His melodies are catchy enough for the masses all the while his arrangements are always moving and morphing, carrying even the most discerning listener on a grand aural voyage. All in all he's a great guitarist, singer, lyricist, and song writer. How many other artist excel in every aspect of their craft?

BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS CD JUST COULDN'T REMEMBER THE NAME! HAS THAT EVER HAPPENED TO U?
I've had Tall Blonde Helicopter for years. Heard him come up on my Pandora station and now want to go find that CD. Good stuff. Smooth, but not sappy. Same reason I like Ben Lee, too.
Tall Blond Helicopter is a very worthwhile album and the place to start for Francis Dunnery. Also, he's an explosive performer who can make more out of an acoustic guitar than many 5 piece bands.
