Fred Eaglesmith

Country-folk singer/songwriter Fred J. Eaglesmith was one of nine children born to a farming family in rural southern Ontario. Often employing his difficult upbringing as raw material for his heartland narratives, he issued his self-titled debut LP in 1980. He recorded infrequently throughout the remainder of the decade, releasing only two more albums, The Boy That Just Went Wrong and Indiana Road. However, Eaglesmith gradually became an underground favorite in his native Canada, thanks largely to a relentless touring schedule in tandem with bassist Ralph Schipper and mandolinist Willie P. Bennett. In 1991, he released the double live collection There Ain't No Easy Road, followed two years later by Things Is Changin'. Another live set, Paradise Motel, appeared in 1994, and in 1995 Eaglesmith returned with Drive-In Movie. 1999 saw the release of 50-Odd Dollars. The double-disc Ralph's Last Show was issued in spring 2001, followed by Falling Stars and Broken Hearts in 2002, Dusty in 2004, and Milly's Cafe in 2006. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

Driving around town one night in my 1940 Plymouth listening to Fred I spotted a girl checking the car out. I stop and back up she get in she looks at me and says This music was made for this car. We picked up a six pac went to the bay and that is when I found out she was a hooker. Lleft her with a smile and the six pac, oh well. Bk
nice tune.but hey baby is my fav
As someone with a Prius I am surprised to find myself loving Mighty Big Car as my favorite going to work song.
My 15-year-old and I sing along to Good Enough on the way to his high school every morning.
I saw him play at roots on the river in rockingham Vermont. The older he gets the better he gets. He's raw and in your face
Way outside and Beyond the Box and he's the best singer/songw r i t e r to come down the pike in many a year! John Prine/Tom Waits, a few more...Seen him a few dozen times beginning with Santa Cruz show in 1999 caught him in Vermont where Mary Gauthier was featured as the warm-up act, in Church, on Sunday morning!(Not Comin' Down) Good as it Gets and then some, eh? Check Fred out behind a mic and rare and riffin' Canadian packing some of the Best Songs, You've never heard and better before ya' die...
No kidding -- they need to put new stuff on here. They are not keeping up with the music scene at all
why oh why won't they upload his new stuff into Pandora???
Tinderbox is awesome
I wouldn't miss a Fred Eaglesmith show. He's a rough and tumble John Prine: Man enoughto love a train, a motorcyle or and old car and man enough to shed a tear for a lost love, a lost prairie town or a lost way of life.
If you like Fred check out his new CD Tinderbox! You will see religion in a new light. Fred takes on Tom Waits. Greggo
damn i like, respect, love Fred. nothing like driving thru hill country of mississippi with Fred live blasting on the stereo. sure wish he'd stretch his tour area.

I played street hockey against Fred and his band at a tournament in Vermont. It was a blast, and then we went to his show at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA. It was truly a weekend to remember. I am a fredhead.

I just saw Fred and his band in the Normal Heights neighborhood of San Diego. I'm not very familiar with his work but MAN! what a show! Pretty funny guy in between songs too.
Fred (and to a lesser, slicker extent, Slaid Cleaves) are what country would be, if country had never gone to Vegas. Fred is the absolutely most genuine, honest music artist I have ever known.

I love the earthy, smoot h sound and lyrics, they take me back to my roots in Canada

How is this guy not more well known? What an awesome talent!
