Psychedelic doom metal outfit Ganon (named after a character in the Nintendo Zelda series of games) made their home base in Michigan -- Ann Arbor to be exact -- and formed in 2002. Influenced by modern sludge and doom merchants like the Melvins and Eyehategod, Ganon released their first album, In the Dead of Sleep, in 2006. For a second I thought this was going to be one of those annoying "Nintendocor e " bands but this was satisfyingly great. Really nicely blends the early Isis sounds with a unique psychedelic approach. And the vocalist is straight awesome too.
