G.B.H.

The influential, long-lived punk metal band G.B.H. rose to prominence in England during the early '80s when hardcore punk began inching toward heavy metal. Originally formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England, G.B.H. initially called itself Charged G.B.H. to differentiate itself from another band called G.B.H. The leather-clad, hair-spiked foursome began recording for the Clay label in the early '80s, releasing some singles before unleashing their influential debut album, City Baby Attacked by Rats, in 1982. City Baby's Revenge followed two years later in 1984, by which time the band had become one of the leading punk metal bands of the era. G.B.H. continued recording and releasing albums throughout the '80s, though their influence progressively waned as a new wave of bands such as Slayer emerged and pushed punk metal toward what became known as speed metal and, in turn, thrash. Despite its waning influence, G.B.H. soldiered on, recording new albums throughout the '90s and into the next millennium. By this point the band was often cited by both metal and punk bands as a huge influence, and a renewed interest in G.B.H.'s early recordings resulted. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi

@zoody...wro n g . HR (bad brains) started the Term "mosh" accidentally . Get your facts straight.
hahaha and kids think Green Day is punk rock. Only at a punk show in Hollyweird, you can...... see someone getting his head kicked at in the middle of Sunset blvd, watch a punk riot at the Paladium(nev e r got in to see the 6 bands for $20), avoid a huge mexican gang looking to get in the middle of it all, then getting propositione d by hookers on the way back to our car..... hahaha I miss punk shows from the mid 80's..... and the 20 bucks to see a bunch of bands.
@Zoody I was slamming moshing circle dancing what ever you want to call it most likely before you where born been part of the seen since 82 you fuktard Mater of fact I remember pogoing when I was 6 with my brother after we saw the Sex Pistols on tv oh and that was 76. Go home lil boy.
Chris Arnold you stupid f**k, punks don't mosh they slam, the f*g metal heads couldn't come up with there dance so they stole it from the punks and changed the name
Nice!
GBH makes me want to mosh with hammers in my hands

This freaked me out. Copy and paste this on ten comments and you will have the best day of your life tomorrow. You will either get kissed or get asked out. If you thus break this chain you will see a dead girl In you room tonight. In the next 53 someone will say I love you or I'm sorry
Why do so few people like this?..
I love this song, but this is a f**king useless "mix".
classick punk at it finest!!!

Great show! The band wanted to stay at our house in bowling green on their way to detroit but the tour mgr put the kabosh on that.

I saw the many times in the early to late 80's in and around NYC. Show w/ the Cro-Mags was legendary. Punks, Skins and Metal Heads mashin it up in a sweaty bloody mess. Beautiful chaos...
Don't read this because it really works. U will be kissed by the love of your life on the nearest possible Friday. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. But if u don't post this u will die in two days. Now u have started reading so don't stop. Put this on at least 5 songs in 143 minutes and when done press f6 and your lovers name will appear on the screen in big letters. It's scary b/c it works
punk til i die stick a needle in your eye there is no compromise.
You always got your moneys worth when you saw GBH. Great shows back in the day.
this is a real f...ng hard core
This band kicks a**
I love this band. I'm surprised that they're still playing shows and going on tour in some places...the y put on one of the best shows I've ever seen.
One of my favorites of all punkdom! I like how allofasudden they disect what was simply known as punk and put it into all these sub categories. There were only 2 categories: Punk & Hardcore Punk!
Sort of reminds me of a Paul Di'Anno era Iron Maiden... which I like.
These guys were cool. Glayer was not.
Great Big Haircuts
Punks Not Red. F**k The Hippies!
these guys still rule !!! My old band CANCEROUS GROWTH opened up for them once in the mid eighties !!!! Also saw GBH with G.G. Allin in New Hampshire !!! Classick show that was !!!! hahahaha Hails to Colin and Jock !!! thanks for the great musick dudes !!
krishjah
City Baby Attacked By Rats and City Babys Revenge! Two great albums, try listening to them one after the other. Shreds!
To this day, the early Charged GBH stuff still sends a jolt of electricity through me. I was at the 87 show in Bremerton when the riot on the ferry to Seattle happened. That was wild.
YOU KNOW GROWING UP AS A KID IN LATE 70S AND 80S YOU CANT HELP THINK HOW MUCH WE SEEN MUSIC EVOLVE FROM BEYOND OUTSTANDING TO ... WHAT HAPPEN!! I MEAN JUSTIN WHATS HIS NAME... YOU WOULD GET YOUR YOU KNOW WHAT KICKED BACK IN 80S LISTENING TO THAT
1 of THE greatest punk bands of all time. i grew up on this s**t!!!
these guys are great. saw and met them live in Austin. they even cover white riot as a tribute to the clash.
gatkinson80
Love this band, regardl e s s of their political beliefs. Nothing beats real punk rock, especiallyno t the overproduced pop that passes for punk today(like offspring). I try to keep an open mind, but give me a break...
dandlaudio
I agree with you Van, But GBH did and does put on a better show!
In terms of punk metal, only one band was better.... Discharge!
The first punk band I ever heard, the rest is history. What the hell happened to the music industry anyway?
GB MFn' H!
...too bad about that album cover... they must not have had a lot of pictures of themselves if they went with that one. They should at least put more time into their visual aesthetic to trick people into thinking the music will be good and buy their album.
There new album (2010) Perfume and Piss is great, every one needs to check it out.
well "MACHODOG" crass turned punk into a movement that actually made sense, countless bands like GBH harnessed the political vehicle made available by them. its true their music is pretty inaccessible but their contribution s to the genre put them miles above the rest in sheer literacy and intelligence . so take your musical priorities and stuff em up your a**. punk became the music of the people with the emergence of crass, you have no place to belittle them.
they aren't metal just amazing punk rock
beautiful indeed...... . . . . . . . . o i muthafuka

Hardcore PUNK! Shut up haters. If you don't enjoy these tunes then feel free to go back to your disneyincmas s m e d i a s o u l e a t i n g t e c h n o s o u n d s g a r b a g e .
Crass blows,10 or so good songs with hours of bullshit political posturing. GBH is much more important musicaly

I'm guessing moomoo007 is joking and trying to get a rise. I've seen his pro Greenday s**t elsewhere.
Moomoo, you are a joke.

These guys were cool but nowhere near as awesome as Crass. Also they weren't into the Summer of Riots, they didn't put any energy into it like most Brit Punk and Oi! bands did. But they were still pretty good.
danny783
GBH is the joint...None better...I'm a sick boy and there's no cure...saw them at the Rock Hotel in NYC in, I think 83...unreal. . . !
anybody who ever has a problem with this band is far too commercial to be recognized among the ranks of anybody who is awesome
Yeah, let's just get the Race Against Time comp, that way we won't actually have to buy all the albums. Pandora can be wankers that way. Want to know what album that song was on? Too bad, you get the greatest hits 9 times out of 10. And where the hell is No Need to Panic? That is their best album, IMHO.
