The Ginger Envelope
Folk-pop band the Ginger Envelope were formed by Patrick Carey and pedal steel player Matt Stoessel (who has worked with South San Gabriel, Summer Hymns, Dark Meat, and Don Chambers & GOAT) in Athens, GA, in 2003. During the next year, they expanded the group into a quintet, adding three former members of the Urbosleeks who had moved to Athens from Lafayette, LA: Jason Robira (percussion), Jason Trahan (guitar), and Steve Miller (bass). (Robira maintains a dual membership in Dark Meat, and Miller is also in Venice Is Sinking.) The Ginger Envelope released their debut EP in 2004, following with a full-length CD, Edible Orchids, on One Percent Press on November 13, 2007. In 2008, Robira left the Ginger Envelope and was replaced by Colin Carey, as Paul McHugh also joined on keyboards.
