The Grascals are a contemporary bluegrass band formed in 2004 by professional Nashville musicians who also happened to all be great friends. Each of the band's six members had been performing bluegrass music for roughly two decades before forming the Grascals, and knew each other either from childhood or professional gigging with artists like the Osborne Brothers, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, and Jimmy Martin, among countless other noted artists. The group consists of Indiana natives Terry Eldredge and Jamie Johnson, Kentucky natives and childhood friends guitarist Danny Roberts and fiddler Jimmy Mattingly, North Carolina-born bassist Terry Smith, and Canadian-born banjo player David Talbot (who met Eldredge while performing with Larry Cordle). The band gained national attention when it toured with Dolly Parton in 2004. The Grascals released a three-song single EP in late 2004 and their self-titled debut in 2005. Long List of Heartaches arrived in the summer of 2006, followed by Keep on Walkin' in 2008. Ace banjo player Kristin Scott Benson joined the group for its fourth album, The Famous Lefty Flynn's, which appeared in 2010. One year later, an association with Cracker Barrel produced the restaurant-exclusive The Grascals & Friends: Country Classics with a Bluegrass Spin. Also arriving in 2011 was the EP Dance Til Your Stockings Are Hot & Ravelin': A Tribute to the Music of The Andy Griffith Show. A new full-length, Life Finds a Way, followed in 2012. ~ Megan Frye, Rovi
A great group to listen too even if you aren't a die hard bluegrass fan. Took friends to the show in Milan, IN and even they loved it and weren't bluegrass fans. But Jamie and the group put on an amazing show and we couldn't be more proud of a great local guy and the sounds that him and his group can produce........
Whats the chance of seeing live talent like this in Chicago? I miss my beloved Breathitt County Kentucky. Wondering if anyone knows of Bluegrass Festivals toward the north... lol, I think.. Bless the USA and our brave young men, the children & families who worry about things we should never got involved with in the first place.
The GRASSCALS are our favorite Bluegrass enterainers,we know Terry Eldridge,he played with my husbands band in mansfield Ind.while still in High School. We think he is the greatest singer!!!Ever. Have all their music. The sound on this Pandora Radio is just wonderful!!!!!!!!
i agree these guys r amazing... but for down to earth old style bbluegrass i would have to say Jimmy Martin... partly because he is my uncle, but also he is the best... it is nice to see young guys come and don't just say it is bluegrass, but actually play it and have talent.. i miss the days when u could have intelligent conversations with almost anybody about bluegrass

Great Group. Seen them at the Station Inn a few years back. Mandolin player Danny Roberts is old friend from the New Tradition era. They are Bluegrass!

I was working in the Nashville are as a consultant a couple of years ago and used to catch Terry playing at the Station Inn every Tuesday night with the Sidemen. This was my introduction to Bluegrass music official and I still enjoy hearing him with the Grascals. All them Nashville cats can really dig it out. Awesome!
