Hal Ketchum

Singer/songwriter/drummer Hal Ketchum was raised in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. He began drumming at age 15 and soon joined an R&B trio. At age 17, Ketchum moved to Florida and then to Texas, where he quickly got involved playing at a local dancehall and began to hone his songwriting skills. He went to Nashville in 1986 to write songs, and three years later released his debut album, Threadbare Alibis; soon after, Ketchum signed with Forerunner Music, which eventually led to a record contract with Curb. He released his first Curb album, Past the Point of Rescue, in 1991. "Small Town Saturday Night," the first single, reached number two and the second single, "I Know Where Love Lies," reached number 13. In 1992, he scored two more hits and released his third album, Sure, Love, which produced three Top 20 hits, including the number two "Hearts Are Gonna Roll." The following year, Ketchum joined the Grand Ole Opry. In 1994, he released his fourth album, Every Little Word, which, while not quite as successful as its predecessors, still produced two Top 40 hits. In 1995, he released Greatest Hits; a collection of vintage 1977 sessions titled Hal Yes was due in 1998 but postponed until the following year, when it was finally released as Awaiting Redemption. Working next with Curb Records, Ketchum released Awaiting Redemption in 1999, Lucky Man in 2001, The King of Love in 2003, One More Midnight in 2007, and Father Time in 2008. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

I love Pandora...I get to hear songs I loved and forgot about...
Hal Ketchum is so very talented, and sincere. He is just beyond what
any words can say. One thing, on his biography, Small Town Saturday Night hit #1 on the charts in August 1991.
Small Town Saturday Night. It's very funny here in Omaha. Omaha is a HUGE city BUT it acts like a small town Saturday Night on the weekends here. Nuts. Only in Omaha because I've never seen this anywhere else EVER.
I MISS ME SOME HAL DAMN
The song of his they seldom play is Skies over Dublin. Not as country as many of his, but none the less a great storytelling song, Hal's hallmark.

Hall Ketchum - be still my heart! My favorite. Incredible voice and awesome songwriter! Lucky enough to see him perform in concert I think three times. Miss you Hal Darlin'!
Hal suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and was paralyzed on the left side of his body for over a year. He had to learn to play guitar and use the left side again, also relearning speech to some extent. He performs when he can. He's a wonderful, loving person with a beautiful Spirit and an inspiration to everyone he meets. He still has an absolutely awesome voice!
Hal Ketchum rocks!
Hal Ketchum's Past The Point Of Rescue is one of my favorite cd's of all time. Every song is good.
I miss Hal what happened I heard tell he did not care for touring any truth to it?
My favorite country western song of all time, my girlfriend/n o w wife was raised in a small town, and before I got into C&W music in the mid 90s, this song has a great dance beat, great words, and rhythm

I actually hate country music but this guy knocked my socks off when I heard his amazing voice and lyrics. I went out and bought his CD. First country CD ever! I also would love to see him in concert. What a talent!

This guy is my all time favorite. Nobody is even close to his style of music. He doesn't sell out to the commercial music scene and produces music he believes in wether it gets radio play or not. Myself/famil y / f r i e n d s have made it a tradition to see him once a year in gruene, TX. Small time dance hall. He mingles through the crowd, takes pictures with people, signs autographs and what an incredible show. Stand up guy, who really cares about his fan base.
ALAN JACKSON IS #1!

Kellie you are soooo right, he is one of a kind and I wish he would do more. He older he gets the better looking he gets, and his voice has mellowed, even better.
