Few film songs encapsulate the raw emotion of a film like this one. I can easily envision Juba burying Maximus's figurine and saying I will see you again... but not yet... not yet... Of course that came after Lucilla saying Is Rome worth one good man's life? We believed it once. Make us believe it again. He was a soldier of Rome. Honor him.

This song gets really overplayed on my Celtic station, but this is a very different sounding version. It switches it up well.

Hans Zimmer is simply magnificent! I truly enjoy most of his film scores,my favorites being this one, plus his work on INCEPTION & Christopher Nolan's BATMAN's franchise movies! : )

@Aiven Pond...it sure sounds like her voice. I know that Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerald worked together on the Gladiator soundtrack so it makes sense that she would be singing it. Don't quote me on it though since I am just making an assumption.

There are translations online that put meanings to the words...ther e are derivatives from multiple languages it seems...Lati n , Hebrew and perhaps Gaelic or other Northern tongues...

Shalom, Shadai, nom de lis, flavum = gold, golden etc. etc. it's not all made up.
Report as inappropriate
This is not Gaelic or Irish or Latin or Hebrew. Lisa Gerrard (of Dead Can Dance, wrote and sings the original) writes in vocalese, which is not a real language.

Um, Jim, I don't think this is Gaelic. I might be wrong, but I don't think it sound like it. Anyway, where do I know this from? I know I've heard it somewhere before.
