The Austin, TX-based pop-ska band the Impossibles comprised singers/guitarists Rory Phillips and Gabe Hascall, bassist Craig Tweedy, and drummer Pat Elliott. Debuting in 1997 with a self-titled LP, the group returned the following year with an EP, Back for the Attack, before disbanding, as members of the band wanted to go to college (they had all recently graduated from high school). Phillips stuck with music, however, and soon resurfaced in Go Kappa!; he also started the Stereo with Animal Chin's Jamie Woolford in 1999. The posthumous Anthology, featuring material recorded back around when they formed in 1994, was released in spring 1999 as well. After a two-year hiatus, things randomly fell back together and the band reunited, issuing Return in the summer of 2000. The EP 4 Song Brick Bomb appeared the following spring. Following the band's permanent dissolution at the end of that year, Phillips and Hascall went on to form the indie rock outfit Slowreader together. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

I remember seeing these guys my sophomore year of high school in Central Fresno at a concert venue that was usually the meeting space for the local United Farm Worker. Yup. Complete with the giant UFW eagle. Pretty amazing. I loved their Slowreader album best of all. It still gets lots of spins.
Ah, weekends going to Fitzgerald's on Friday to see these guys, Dynamite Boy, & Thirty Foot Fall, and then driving up to Austin to do the same thing at Emo's the next night...man I miss high school!
