Insomnium is a melodic death metal band from Joensuu, Finland, whose music also reveals links to other, neighboring metallic subgenres like doom, melancholy, and dark metal. Originally formed in 1997, the group released a pair of demos in 1999 and 2000 before signing a contract with England's Candlelight Records, and making their full-length debut via 2002's In the Halls of Awaiting CD. Had the chance to see this guys live in HOB, SD w/ Epica and they blew me away. They are now on my list of favorite bands. Can't wait to see them again soon.
Saw their concert in San Antonio last night. I was very impressed, even though I am not a growler fan, and was there to see Epica. This band features some fantastic dual guitar leads that weave back and forth, as well as some virtuoso solo guitar work. This Finnish band is on the rise.

One of the best if not the best Melodic Death Metal band. Some not listed but are similar Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn, Devildriver (older), Bury your Dead, At the Gates, Darkest Hour. Very Solid Metal genre.
I very rarely find a band that has such full sound. So much talent, and the lyrics are extremely deep. They sound a little bit like Amon Amarth, but they have their own sound and really put a new perspective on Melodic Death Metal (Doom Metal).
I just love this band. The passion,the energy the intensity and the heart this band has is incredible. There is always an Insomnium cd in my car.I just need to find a woman who at least appreciates what tremendous artists and musicians they are. I love these guys. Really. Theres a profound element to their music, and also a very epic, intense one as well, all the while making incredible melodies. Love the new direction of Across the Dark as well.
