A classic from a halcyon time...a mythical bird, usually identified with the kingfisher, said to breed about the time of the winter solstice in a nest floating on the sea, and to have the power of charming winds and waves into calmness.

Total talent when it takes you to a different place, if only for 17 minutes! I don't know about you, but i'd go back in heart beat!
It was 68,Nov,on a friday nite ,my friend Art Steinbeck, and my self staying at a friends apt in So.Calif Stoned on Whites listening to this song and Chambers Bros, until the we hrs. of the morn.
Great jam song. The very first song I learned in the very first band I played keys in. I never get tired of it. All the solos are great--the drum solo is iconic!
You know, everyone says a lot about this song, but the truth is that this is just one really cool jam. All the bs about it is jealousy. I love this song and always have. I learned the drum solo at 15 in 1971, as best I could, cuz Wipeout just didnt' cut it any more. Awesome stuff.
Yes, the drums are great!
I don't know why the breakdown after the drum solo that continues thru the organ solo has not been sampled over and over. That is a good groove. It goes on for several minutes, you can't miss it!
When you find five notes and put them together to create the best five-notes bass riff ever, I say: "stick with it, my psychedelic friend, just stick with it, it's O.K., other notes just don't matter..."

The fade in after the drum solo is beyond classic. This is a great song with so many twists and turns. Thank whomever for acid rock. We sure did have fun in those days. It doesn't get any better than this.

An acid rock classic, and one of the best album sides ever made!

I get a contact high just listening to this song...
This is one of my favorite songs from that era. I remember so much that happened from that time musically and this personified the direction rock was to take.
