Not a one hit wonder if you listened to underground fm radio in the 60s. Some of the best progressive music for the 60's. Ron Bushy excellent drummer, Erik Brann was supposed to play violin for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, but decided to play guitar for Iron Butterfly instead. Doug Ingle great voice, and keyboards and he wrote most of the songs. Love Them.....

With one song they gave birth to experimental , heavy metal, trance, acid rock, southern rock, jam band, and many other elements of what became rock in the 70's. I know it's debatable but this song represents a total transition in music history along with other pivotal songs of the most creative period in rock history.

The single is all right but the full version is ridiculous.

Saw them live in Hawaii don't remember exactly when. But do remember a cloud of smoke drifting over the room. Good times.

Wow, talk about flashbacks. Had to create a station around this sound for my youngest to hear. All the other music that comes with it are so fantastic. You didn't need to be stoned to get into this one. It just took you away. Fave ever.

A classic from a halcyon time...a mythical bird, usually identified with the kingfisher, said to breed about the time of the winter solstice in a nest floating on the sea, and to have the power of charming winds and waves into calmness.
