Thick As A Brick

Lyrics

Really don't mind if you sit this one out.

My words but a whisper your deafness a SHOUT.
I may make you feel but I can't make you think.

Agreed , nice to hear the full track!
Awsome u need a jay
This is a great album .Seen Tull at least five times in Dallas /Ft.Worth.1) S t a n d Up is a classic.2)At the end of Passion play there was a phone on a stool and it started ringing and ringing then out pops Ian he answers it . Points it at the crowd and says ,"It's for you"!Awesome shows.
The lyrics are for the terrible radio edit, the piece played is side one of the vinyl release.
zedvortex
Well, the whole first side at least.
Saw live in '72 and Ian last year with
TAAB 2. My favorite rock composition of all time. Timeless.
Thank god pandora pays the whole song as opposed to the terrible radio edit. One of my all time favorites.
Top 10 of all time! Classic.
@sfangels1 Go something yourself with a rake before I'm forced to use harsh non Pandora friendly language. Nobody wants that kind of garbage on here.

Otherwise this is probably the song that I'm most thankful that Pandora turned me on to, I never knew that this song was longer (and better) than the 3 min interlude they like to play on the radio.
nothing gets me more pumped up than this song - Ian Anderson is my hero

Don't read this because it actually works. You will be kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of you life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However if you don't post this you will die in 2 days. Now you've started reading so don't stop. This is so scary put this on at least 5 songs in 143 minutes. When done press f6 and your lover's name will come on the screen in big letters. This is so scary because it actually works!
What an amazing composition by JT. Hard to match by any rock group.
Awesome!
What memories this is great to hear in Pandora thank you Guys!!!!!
Yep, all of Side One. Great!
Hello, fellowTull fans. I'm thrilled hearing this on Pandora. Was not epecting to hear this here.

When I first startedliste n i n g to Tull in the"70'a I found this track to be the bestI've ever heard!
One of my top ten albums. Timeless.

I remember playing this album over and over until I fell asleep. To me this bum is timeless.
Actually Pandora only plays 1/2 of the song....

THIS SONG SUCKS!!!! NOT!!! Thought I would rile some people up. Thanks Pandora for playing the long version. First time I have heard it and have loved the song since I was a kid 30ish years ago.
Thanks Pandora for playing the entire song. I can't stand when the radio edit plays, drives me nuts.

For those who just happen to subscribe to The St. Cleve Chronicle and have kept the Jan. 7th, 1972 issue I won't give away the secret to the crossword puzzle. However, I will say this. The most important story in that issue can be found on the top of the opposite page. It may be of some significance to those who take Thick As A Brick Seriously.
To those of you who have the original vinyl album, Have you ever tried to do the crossword puzzle????
Legendary. Thanks for putting the whole album on. I remember a roommate of mine telling me about the entire track, which even AOR would not play back in the day. Heard it first on a long trip...great to have it here.
Biggles would connect with Brits, but not always with us Yanks. A character in Boys Own Adventure novels, Biggles was a pilot and adventurer who represented fine, conventional virtues broadly recognized by British society. Americans: think of Nancy Drew or the Hardy Brothers.

So, when Anderson asks where the hell is Biggles, it's like S & G asking where Joe Dimaggio has gone. Monty Python skits often satirize Biggles.

I've listened to this album 100s of times always with pleasure.

I wonder if he was thinking about Liberals.... . . . . . . . .
My favorite album since I was in high school in the 60's. This love to play it reallllyyyy loud.

My favorite Tull album...so many twists and turns.
Rumor has it, that Tull is taking this on the road in 2012 . Hope he hits somewhere in New England..... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Wish there was a button that would flip and play the other side!

I am so glad that you have this available. I haven't heard the whole song in a long time. Thanks!
Talk about a long song!
thank you pandora; this is one of the most memorable albums/songs from my wild days in the 70s; still have my original vinyl copy; will never stop loving tull!!
This song has so many attributes. Great to listen to it.
One of the greatest epic songs ever written. Ian Anderson calls himself an observer of human nature in it's natural habitat. This album long song describes how the hippies became the establishmen t . They exchanged straight backed suits and ties for slouching jeans and sneakers as the uniform of the day but kept the greed and oppression of their fathers.
well, I believe the album was essentially presnted as a single song
Strong as a garlic milkshake. "Where the hell was Biggles?"
mrazmeritsa
Wow, never knew just how long this song actually was til now...this is like, Epic! Yes, a definite Masterpiece!

Favorite song....evar .
congress should be listening to this song
one of my faves of the groups
i never knew how to take the news on the album cover, just too much to be true i thought. Julia here as a nanny concept rather put paid to the Julie Andrews 'M. Poppins'(for many young men anyway.) loved the photo.
this song woke me up in the 70s
I like most of what Tull has done, but this is the best by several orders of magnitude. They got close in "skating away on the thin ice of the new day" but the personnel and chemistry has changed so much since then. It was that perfect moment.
caesarzenbud
Yeah buddy, I saw them at the L.A. Collusium when they introduced the first giant television screen to allow the nose-bleed seats to see close-ups, Ian Anderson called it Tullavision!

sposobi,

I saw the same one at San Diego Sports Arena, I still remember it, just absolutely blew my socks off, I will never forget when Ian Anderson said the now for our second song - the Crowd went crazy.
amen, amen. cover art and news stories all add to the effect. and i've always loved the little panty shot behind Little Milton
exactly as sposobi says.... friggin incredible show. best ive ever seen.
Outstanding album and live show. First saw Tull in '72. Bunch of guys dressed in long brown dusters fiddling with equipment on the stage, adjusting things. All of a sudden they doff the coats and it's Tull, launcing into this album. Played for over an hour, just on this first song. After the applause and so on died down, Ian Anderson dryly annouced "And now for our second number..." Blew me away.
